Chapter 14
“Is Prince Kaguya Healthy?”
“Besides, you’re all here to protect the prince, right?”
They nodded in response.
“Then you should be the ones to raise him.”
“R–Raise the prince? Surely it would make more sense for Ruri, who shares the same bloodline, to raise him.”
“…”
So basically, they don’t know what to do with the prince either.
Why did the princess even assign these guys as his guardians?
Ruri bit her lip, thinking hard, before asking,
“What kind of magic can you actually use?”
“We can do anything — cleaning, cooking. If it’s for protecting the prince, we’ll use magic as well,” said the green-haired one.
“I have a job to do, so I can’t watch over him all the time.
During the day, you’ll have to take care of him.”
“And what will you be doing?”
“Going to work, obviously. I’ll be back at night, but until then, he’s your responsibility.”
“You want us to watch the prince from morning till night?”
“Well, yeah. That’s what you came along for, isn’t it?”
“…”
The fairies fell silent at Ruri’s words.
“And I can’t exactly let people see him like this.
Can you make him invisible with magic or something?”
“Yes.
The prince was just sent here, so right now, only you can see him.
Same with us — only you can see our forms.”
“That’s perfect.
Once he grows up a bit, it’ll be easier to make excuses anyway.
By the way, can he get sick?
He’s… what, an alien? Someone from another world? Those types are usually really sturdy, right?”
“The prince is not an alien. He is of the noble lineage of the Gem Kingdom—”
Before the violet-haired girl could finish, Ruri interrupted,
“Prince Phos, right? I know, I know.”
She grinned. “That’d actually make a good manga.”
“In the Gem Kingdom, there’s no such thing as illness.
We can get injured, but even that heals quickly.
Only serious injuries require the care of the great medical magicians,” explained the girl with apple-green hair.
“Also, the Gem Kingdom has bamboo too.
We’re born after absorbing the poison from it,
so we’re resistant to toxins as well.”
“So no sickness, immune to poison…
That’s amazing. No medical bills either.
I’m jealous.”
Ruri sighed.
“Anyway, are you guys really going to stay that small forever?
You plan to take care of the prince like that?”
“It’s fine — we can use magic.
We could make ourselves bigger, but that consumes a lot of power.
This size is just the most efficient,” the pink-haired one explained.
“Well, if that’s how it is, fine.
You can stay small — just make sure to use your magic to protect the prince.”
“You don’t need to tell us that.
That’s exactly why we’re here,” said the yellow-haired fairy.
“Oh, right — I don’t even know your names yet.
I know Lapis, but the rest of you?”
“We are the Guardians of the Twelve Months,” said the blue-haired one.
Ruri nodded. “Ah, so you’re like the birthstones.
But wait — there are fourteen of you.”
“We’re special.
I’m Pure Silver, and this one is Pure Gold.
We’re the Pure pair — Bronze and Pure.”
