Chapter 22
Liliana, On Guard Against the Prince 1
I am Liliana, eldest daughter of the Villiers Earl family, and I have recently become the fiancée of Prince William, the first prince of the Kingdom of Zavanney — also known as the “Ice Prince.”
Right now, I am surrounded by a group of flashy noble ladies and their attendants.
Yay, Liliana is so popular ❤︎
…Not at all. The reason is only one.
“Just what did Prince William see in a little girl like her to choose her?”
Oh, truly.
I strongly agree with that, actually.
“In terms of social standing, Lady Isabella would be far more suitable.”
Ah, so this flashy noble lady is called Lady Isabella.
Her attendants kept flattering her, which made her laugh loudly while fanning herself vigorously with a feathered fan.
Some of the feathers kept falling out and floating around, making me feel like sneezing.
Since I was chosen as Prince William’s fiancée, incidents like this — some kind of harassment — occasionally happen.
There has been no direct violence so far, such as being physically attacked, having my belongings hidden, or being broken.
But still, being forced to listen to such boring talk endlessly right in front of me is mentally painful.
If this were a story’s heroine, a handsome prince would probably rush in and rescue her at times like this.
But in reality, the prince is long since graduated from the academy (Prince William is 23 years old), and there is no one to help me!
So I must protect myself‼
“Excuse me, may I ask something?”
“Yes, what is it?”
“I have an older brother who is three years older than me.”
“You mean Ian-sama. Yes, I know him.”
“Yes. Since my engagement was decided the other day, my father said it might be time to start thinking about finding a good marriage partner for my brother Ian as well…”
“Oh, is that so? Then has a partner for Ian-sama already been decided?”
“No. There are many wonderful noble ladies in this country, so I was asked — from the perspective of another woman — to recommend some truly wonderful noble ladies…”
If I subtly hint that they would be removed from the candidate list with just one word from me, these ladies of marriageable age will quickly change their attitude, unwilling to be excluded from the small number of good marriage prospects.
“I see.
Lady Liliana, you are truly a kind and caring sister, aren’t you?”
No, no. I actually have the self-awareness of being a cruel little sister trying to sacrifice my brother.
Still, having an handsome older brother is truly a blessing.
