Chapter – 01
A Kind-Hearted Omega
In early September, the weather in South City was still scorching hot, with faint waves of heat rising from the ground.
The blazing sun cast a blinding light that slipped through the half-closed car window and poured inside.
Yu Wei narrowed his eyes and rolled the window up, speaking to the driver in front: “Uncle Wang, stop the car ahead. It’s too crowded at the gate, we’ll walk in.”
Today was the opening day for freshmen at South City University. In front of the gate, there was a sea of people, laughter mixing with car horns echoing around the entrance.
The driver responded. The blurred scenery outside gradually came into focus—rows of plane trees lined the road, their branches tangled, yet still unable to block the relentless sun.
The car came to a stop about a hundred meters from the school gate. After turning off the engine, the driver glanced at the rearview mirror.
Yu Wei sat in the back seat by the window, posture restrained. Beside him, a teenage boy was slumped awkwardly, taking up most of the space, his head resting on a gray backpack as he slept soundly. His mouth was slightly open, and if you looked closely, there was even some drool at the corner. From time to time, he smacked his lips loudly, the sound especially noticeable in the quiet car.
Yu Wei stared expressionlessly at the sleeping boy, took a deep breath. He had been enduring that lip-smacking sound the entire ride, and the irritation finally snapped. He raised his hand and smacked him.
“Yu Song, wake up. We’re at school.”
The boy’s dream was abruptly interrupted. Startled, he jerked upright and hit his head against the car roof with a loud thud. Rubbing his head, he looked around in confusion, only to see Yu Wei sitting there with his arms crossed, watching coldly.
His sleepiness vanished instantly. Fully awake now, Yu Song pouted and shuffled closer to Yu Wei, seeking comfort.
“Brother, you’re so mean to me.”
“Get out of the car. I still have to go back to the company after dropping you off.”
Yu Wei ignored his aggrieved look, opened the door, and got out. He walked to the back of the car and opened the trunk to take out Yu Song’s luggage. Just as his hand reached for the suitcase, the driver rushed over.
“Oh no, Young Master, how can you carry something so heavy? Let me do it.”
Yu Song had brought two suitcases. Inside were not only daily necessities but also his beloved collectibles—making them extremely heavy. He tried to help, but the driver politely stopped him.
Yu Wei stood awkwardly on the side, no longer stepping forward.
He still hadn’t quite adapted to his identity as a “young master.”
Yu Wei exhaled, silently telling himself three times that he was a capitalist, and only then did he feel justified letting the driver handle it. After the suitcases were taken out, he accepted one and said, “Uncle Wang, I’ll take him in. Wait here for me.”
Without waiting for a reply, Yu Wei dragged the suitcase toward the gate. Yu Song followed behind him with his backpack.
Yu Wei glanced back at him. Yu Song still looked aggrieved, but the moment he noticed Yu Wei looking, he instantly broke into a sweet smile.
“Brother, slow down.”
His expression changed faster than a Sichuan opera mask. Yu Wei shook his head helplessly and slowed his pace slightly.
Yu Song caught up and immediately took the suitcase from him, grinning.
“I’m not hurt. In fact, it knocked me awake. I’m not sleepy at all now. Brother, you really know how to wake people up. You’re amazing.”
Yu Wei: “……”
If Yu Song hadn’t looked so sincere, Yu Wei would have thought he was being sarcastic. But no, he genuinely seemed to be praising him.
Yu Wei gave him a complicated look. Yu Song still smiled brightly, looking as foolish as ever. Yu Wei couldn’t help but sigh—this cannon fodder younger brother really had a different kind of brain.
Three days ago, Yu Wei had transmigrated into a novel.
In his previous life, he had just been an ordinary accountant, overworked and underpaid. After finally getting promoted with great effort, he died suddenly at his job.
When he opened his eyes again, he had entered a novel his colleague once complained about—becoming a minor “rich second generation” side character, and the older brother of a cannon fodder character.
And that cannon fodder was Yu Song.
In the novel, Yu Song bullied the protagonists during university, acting as a tool to push the main leads’ relationship forward. Once his role was complete, the author casually arranged a tragic ending: his family destroyed, dying on the streets.
As for Yu Wei, he was barely even a character—just a passing name, a background NPC used for a few lines of begging to make the protagonists look good.
Having spent his previous life struggling for a small salary, Yu Wei quickly accepted his new identity as a wealthy man and decided to enjoy life.
But the biggest hidden danger in this comfortable life… was this foolish younger brother.
Yu Song looked stupid, but he was not harmless.
The Yu family was not just “rich”—it was extremely wealthy. Yet somehow, this seemingly simple-minded brother would eventually ruin the entire family.
Yu Wei could not accept such an illogical ending.
So on his first day after transmigrating, he discussed with his new parents about transferring Yu Song to another school. Unfortunately, this university was the best in the city, and Yu Song had only been admitted through connections and great effort. Changing schools was simply not realistic.
And there were only three days left before enrollment. Time was too tight.
All Yu Wei could do was keep Yu Song away from the protagonists, prevent trouble, and make sure he finished university peacefully.
But he hadn’t read the novel carefully. He only heard about it in passing during a lunch break at work from a colleague, who casually mentioned the plot because Yu Wei shared the same name as the cannon fodder.
He had listened absentmindedly, nodding along while eating. Apart from anything related to his own name, he remembered almost nothing.
The only thing that stuck with him was the genders of the protagonists—two men, who would fall in love, kiss, and do things beyond that…
At the thought, Yu Wei’s expression twisted slightly.
Such a bizarre setting was impossible to forget.
But now that he had transmigrated, none of that mattered. The most important thing was saving his own life and his future wealth.
Finding the protagonists and warning Yu Song not to provoke them was the priority—but Yu Wei had no idea who they were. He had spent almost the entire night thinking and found nothing.
His colleague had never mentioned their names, only using “top” and “bottom” to refer to them.
Even Yu Song’s name never appeared; he was always called “cannon fodder B.”
Yu Wei had no idea who the protagonists were. But since Yu Song was an important catalyst for their relationship, the protagonists must be around him. He just needed to slowly filter through people and prevent conflicts.
Although he hadn’t read the novel, he had read others. In stories like this, protagonists were never ordinary—they were either ridiculously handsome, ridiculously rich, or poor-but-incredible types who later rose to the top.
So appearance was the easiest way to identify them.
Besides, he had heard that in female-oriented novels, there were no ugly men. Even Yu Song, a cannon fodder, looked quite handsome. So the protagonists would definitely be even more outstanding.
Today’s mission: find the protagonists—and send Yu Song to check into his dorm.
Yu Song’s dorm was a four-person room. Yu Wei came along to check whether any of his roommates might be suspicious candidates.
Unfortunately, when they arrived, no one was there. Only one bed near the door had already been made, suggesting someone had arrived but gone out.
The dorm was a loft-style setup with a bed above and desk below, a private bathroom, and a small balcony—very good conditions. Yu Wei, having graduated years ago, couldn’t help feeling a bit envious.
Yu Song put down his luggage and went downstairs to buy daily necessities. Yu Wei followed him, but the store was too crowded to enter.
“Brother, you should go back up first. It’s too hot outside.”
“Can you manage on your own?”
Yu Song had grown up spoiled in wealth and relied on servants for everything. Yu Wei was still worried.
“Brother, do you think I’m that stupid? I can buy things myself.”
After much persuasion, Yu Wei finally agreed to go back.
He headed back toward the dorm building. The elevator line was long, so he chose the stairs instead.
On the second floor landing, he heard a male voice ahead.
Without looking up, Yu Wei passed by the corner, only vaguely hearing:
“I’m in room 508. I can carry it myself, no need to send anyone.”
Most people took the elevator in this heat, so the stairwell was quiet except for that voice.
Yu Wei paused mid-step, then quietly stepped back to listen.
After the call ended, the boy looked up and noticed him.
Their eyes met.
The boy’s features were strikingly refined. His skin was fair with a faint blush from the heat, and his dark eyes were calm and distant.
Yu Wei stared at him.
This face… was too good-looking.
He slowly narrowed his eyes.
Could this be a protagonist?
At that moment, a dark red line of text suddenly appeared above the boy’s head:
[Important character, avoid contact]
Yu Wei’s eyes widened. He leaned closer, trying to see clearly—but in the next second, the text vanished.
Was that… an illusion?
Or his cheat ability?
The boy spoke again, voice indifferent: “Move aside.”
But Yu Wei barely heard him. His mind was still stuck on those words: important character.
He stepped down two steps, standing directly in front of him, eyes burning with curiosity.
“I’m sorry, my younger brother is also in room 508. I’ll help you carry your things.”
At that moment, a faint banana-like sweet scent drifted through the air.
The boy lowered his gaze slightly, looking at Yu Wei’s neck, where an inhibitor patch was faintly visible.
An omega… with a fruity scent.
And a very kind-hearted omega.
