Chapter 11
Staying the Night
“Y-you jerk, bullying me like that… I was so kind to you when you were little!”
Ling wiped the saliva from the corner of her mouth, her cheeks slightly flushed as she glared at Elysia.
“Saying that makes me sad, you know? I just wanted to make Ah Ling feel happier.”
“Who would be happy being treated like that?!”
Ling puffed out her cheeks, showing her dissatisfaction, but Elysia didn’t seem bothered at all.
“Hmm? But Ah Ling didn’t refuse, did she?”
“Don’t push your luck!”
After finally getting Elysia to calm down, Ling collapsed onto the sofa in exhaustion and let out a slow sigh. Elysia tried to move closer, but Ling mercilessly avoided her.
“I’m tired. Let me rest for a while.”
Wrapping herself completely in her coat, Ling closed her eyes, not daring to look Elysia in the face.
“That feeling just now was so strange… Is something wrong with my brain or something…”
She shook her head, trying to throw away all the messy thoughts in her mind, and soon fell into a deep sleep.
When she opened her eyes again, the sky outside had already grown somewhat dark.
“I think I slept for too long… Ouch…”
The wound on her back still hadn’t healed, but at least the bleeding had stopped. After trying to stand and walk a few steps, the faint pain from the injury made her give up on the idea of going outside to search for supplies.
“Speaking of which, where’s Elysia? Normally she’d be clinging to me like glue…”
“Ah? Ah Ling, you’re awake?”
Just as she was wondering, Elysia opened the door to the room. Judging from the interior visible behind her, she must have spent quite a while arranging it. However… the entirely pink-colored decoration was honestly a little overwhelming.
“You’re planning to stay here tonight?”
“Hmm? Of course. After all, you’re injured. If you don’t get enough rest and something happens, I’ll be sad, you know?”
Hearing Elysia’s words, Ling felt a warm feeling in her heart. But when she saw Elysia’s playful smile, she suddenly remembered how she had been teased earlier, and her cheeks unknowingly turned bright red.
“Hmph, I suppose you still have a little conscience…”
Seeing Ling’s embarrassed yet proud expression, Elysia couldn’t help but pinch her cheeks.
“Mm… Stop pinching me. I’m going to cook!”
Pushing Elysia’s hand away, Ling hurriedly escaped into the kitchen. However, the moment she opened the refrigerator, she suddenly remembered that this wasn’t the orphanage. Moreover, because of the Honkai, the city’s power supply had already been cut off, and the food inside the refrigerator had gone bad.
“Oh no… I left in too much of a hurry.”
But Elysia was still outside, and Ling didn’t dare to go out.
“Elysia should have gone back to her room, right…”
Ling cautiously poked her head out and glanced around the living room twice. After confirming that she couldn’t see Elysia, she quietly stepped out.
“Hmm? Is Ah Ling looking for me?”
“Waaah!”
Elysia’s voice suddenly came from behind her, startling Ling so badly that she almost fell to the ground.
“Y-you… Why were you standing there? You scared me to death…”
Ling’s eyes became slightly teary as she complained, but Elysia only looked at her with a mischievous smile.
“Who told Ah Ling to keep avoiding me today? I just wanted to spend a little more time with Ah Ling.”
“Wh-who told you to keep touching me all the time…”
“But Ah Ling is just too cute, you know? I can’t help but want to get closer every time.”
