Shopping and Lunch
“Mhm! Xiling, don’t you think this one looks really nice too?”
“Of course. Our little Elysia has great taste.”
Xiling glanced at the price tag before reaching into her wallet to pay.
“Xiling, what about this one? This one looks really nice too!”
Watching Elysia excitedly pull one outfit after another from the racks, Xiling froze with the money still in her hand.
“Little Elysia… don’t you think we’ve picked a few too many clothes?”
“Umm… but they’re all so pretty.”
“We still have to buy other things later. We won’t be able to carry this many clothes.”
Xiling’s words left Elysia looking a little disappointed, but she quickly cheered herself up.
“Okay then… I’ll put a few of them back.”
After Elysia reluctantly returned several outfits, the total finally dropped to a price Xiling could afford. Looking at her wallet, now noticeably flatter than before, she couldn’t help letting out a sigh.
“Come on, Elysia. Let’s go see what else we need.”
After buying some daily necessities and a supply of travel rations, noon soon arrived.
“Little Elysia, are you hungry? Is there anything you’d like to eat?”
“Xiling, I want to eat there!”
Following Elysia’s excited gaze toward a dessert shop, Xiling couldn’t help twitching the corner of her mouth.
“No problem. Let’s go.”

“Mmm… this is so delicious! Xiling, you should try some too.”
“No, you go ahead. Big Sis isn’t very hungry.”
Watching Elysia’s face overflow with happiness, Xiling lowered her head, took a bite of a compressed biscuit, and washed it down with a cup of water.
“You’re still growing. You need to eat plenty if you want to grow taller.”
“Mhm! I’ll do my best!”
Encouraged by Xiling, Elysia happily ate two more slices of cake before patting her stomach in satisfaction.
“Are you full now, Little Elysia? If not, we can order a few more.”
“Nope, I’m completely full.”
Elysia smiled with narrowed eyes as she patted her round little belly and let out a satisfied burp.
“Alright, then let’s—”
Xiling stood up, ready to take Elysia’s hand and leave, only to find the little girl swaying drowsily as though she would fall asleep at any moment.
“So she’s still just a child… Full stomach, sleepy eyes.”
With a mixture of affection and helpless amusement, Xiling lifted Elysia onto her back, gathered all their shopping bags, and headed toward the hotel.
“Go ahead and sleep peacefully. Big Sis still has a few things to take care of.”
After tucking Elysia into bed, Xiling sat down at the desk in front of the computer. Looking at her wallet, now almost empty, she let out another quiet sigh.
“Elysia really spends money quickly… I wonder when the funds from MOTH will arrive. If they don’t come soon, we’ll be living on air in another couple of days…”
As for finding a part-time job, she simply couldn’t bring herself to leave Elysia in someone else’s care, even though she knew the girl would probably be perfectly safe.

Although she had played through every chapter of Honkai Impact 3rd and even read the accompanying manga, there were still parts of the timeline she couldn’t remember with complete certainty.
“Sigh… I’ll just take things one step at a time…“
