Chapter 08
The Package
After browsing on her computer for a while, Xiling found a few quick patching jobs online to help cover today’s expenses. Looking at the sleeping Elysia on the bed, her eyes softened with the affectionate gaze of someone watching over a child.
“Go ahead and enjoy yourself. At least here, you don’t have to worry about anything else. Just be happy.”

“Good morning, Sister Xiling~”
“Good morning, little Elysia. Hmm? Wait… it’s already the next morning?”
Taking off her glasses and rubbing her dry eyes, Xiling glanced at the sun that had already climbed high into the sky. After uploading the patched code to her client, she gently took Elysia’s hand.
“Come on, little Elysia. I’ll take you to breakfast.”
She led Elysia to the hotel’s cafeteria. After ordering a sandwich and a glass of milk, Xiling typed away on her keyboard with one hand while taking small sips of a strong espresso with the other.
“Just wait a little, little Elysia. Breakfast will be here soon.”
“Sister Xiling, where are we going today?”
Elysia sat obediently in her chair, her beautiful eyes sparkling as she looked at Xiling.
“We’re not going out just yet today. I ordered a few things, and we need to wait for them to arrive before we leave.”
Xiling gently patted Elysia’s head as she spoke warmly.
“If there’s anything else you’d like to buy, we still have a little time today~”
“R-Really?”
“Of course. There’s about two thousand credits on this card. Buy whatever you’d like with it.”
“Mhm! Thank you, Sister Xiling! You’re the best~”
Elysia had been a little disappointed about the clothes she’d been forced to put back yesterday. Since they still had time, she could finally make up for it. Pulling Xiling along at a light run to the clothing store, Elysia quickly found the outfits she’d reluctantly returned before—and even picked out two more while she was at it.
“Sister Xiling, aren’t you going to choose a couple of outfits too? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you buy any clothes.”
Elysia’s concern warmed Xiling’s heart, but she still shook her head.
“No, it’s fine. I’m not really interested in buying new clothes. Besides… what I bought is much cooler than a new outfit~”
“Eh! Can I see it?”
Meeting Elysia’s sparkling eyes, Xiling smiled mysteriously.
“You’ll find out when we get back~”
Carrying their shopping bags back to the hotel, Xiling noticed someone in a MOTH uniform leaning against the hallway wall, apparently waiting for her. Behind him were several medium-sized packages.
After signing for the delivery, Elysia excitedly carried the boxes back to their room.
As they opened the packages, they found a rugged, heavy-duty laptop, two mobile phones, and a signal receiver unit. One of the phones had even been thoughtfully fitted with a pink case.
“Umm… Phones? And what are all these? Oh! This pink one looks so cute~”
“Do you like it? That phone is for you.”
“I do! Thank you, Sister Xiling!”
Elysia hugged the phone happily before suddenly giving Xiling a kiss on the cheek, instantly causing her face to flush.
“Ahem… I’m glad you like it. Then I’ll go take a look at these things. Oh, right—let’s exchange contact information first. That way, if we ever get separated, we’ll be able to find each other quickly.”
“We’re never going to get separated. I’ll stay right beside you, Sister Xiling~”
