Chapter 15
I wanted to explain, but suddenly I remembered who this girl wasâYu Jinâs childhood friend, Yu Guoâer. I recalled that last time when Yu Jin brought a few of his friends to introduce her to me, she really was the woman in front of me. Itâs just that back then her makeup wasnât so exaggerated, so for a moment, I didnât recognize her.
After Yu Guoâer hung up, I suppressed my anger and said, âDo you want to hear an explanation?â
âGo explain it to Yu Jin,â Yu Guoâer glanced at me, then walked aside, ignoring me. My friends pulled me down to sit and started whispering about whether we should take the chance, while all the classmates were upstairs, to beat the crap out of him.
I thought about itâmy salary wasnât much, and I couldnât afford such a messâso I waved it off. I had only been sitting for a little while, chatting with my friends about who this woman was to Yu Jin, when I saw him coming in with a dark expression through the KTVâs main entrance.
âYuââ
Smack.
Before I could even finish calling his name, he came up and slapped me. I didnât expect him to hit me in front of everyone. The blow sent me crashing into a table. Then I heard the shattering of glass, and my head was buzzing.
Shouts, scolding, people trying to break it up, and the sound of things breakingâall mixed together. It took me a long time to react. When I finally came to, I saw Tang Li pinning Yu Jin to the ground, punching him again and again.
Even my friends had gone up and kicked him a couple of times. Yu Jinâs mouth bled, and he cursed at me: âBitch!â I caught my breath, my face burning. Then I stood up and slowly walked over to him.
He had no strength to resist and couldnât even fight Tang Li, being pinned down tightly. I began to laugh, a harsh laugh that brought tears to my eyes, my breath unsteady, my body trembling.
I said, âDidnât expect this day to come, did you?â
I said, âNow itâs my turn to pay you back, right?â
I said, âYu Jin, divorce is divorce!â
Then I fiercely slapped him twice. I hit him so hard that my palms ached and went numb; his face instantly flushed red. Those two slaps seemed to stun himâhe didnât react for a long moment.
âThat day, you coming home with a womanâs shoes and bag, I could let that slide. A womanâs underwear? Fine, I could overlook that too. But the semen stains on our sheets and the condoms in the trashâwhatâs that about? Tell me! I saw her coming out of our house! How do you explain this?â
The angrier I got, the more dizzy my head felt, gasping for breath, tears streaming nonstop. He finally came to his senses, glaring at me viciously: âYou dare hit me?â
âSo what if I hit you!â My friends rushed forward and slapped him again. âYouâre a scumbag. Each of us could give you a slap, and it wouldnât even be too much!â
âYu Jin, is what sheâs saying true?â Yu Guoâerâs mouth fell open in shock, as if sheâd never heard anything like it, and she asked him in disbelief.
Yu Jin snorted, then arrogantly said, âWhatâs wrong with me finding another woman if you pretend to be sick and donât sleep with me? I even told you. Even if you know about this, it doesnât matter. My parents know tooâitâs something they condone. Going to them wonât help.â
As he spoke, Tang Li couldnât help but punch him again, making blood flow from his mouth. But he spat a mouthful of blood, chuckled, and said, âSo what if you hit me? So what if you go complain to them? When we get divorced, youâll still have to return the dowry in full. In the end, youâll still be a free woman who hasnât spent a pennyâŚâ
