Chapter 62…
The Hammer of Judgment Falls.
When they arrived at the royal castle by carriage, Felicia entered the castle, leaving behind Hugo, who was disguised as the coachman.
Of course, the king had already been informed of the full details of the plan and had granted them permission for an audience. According to the plan, Alexis had arranged for Celine to be informed—at just the right time—that Felicia had come to the castle, and to subtly guide her toward the garden from which she could overlook the corridor leading to the audience chamber.
“Once Celine hears that Felicia has entered the castle, she’ll surely rush to confirm the truth for herself.
From the room where her queenly training is conducted, knowing her personality, she’ll probably cut across the garden. She’ll do it to catch a glimpse of Felicia in the corridor leading to the audience chamber.
It’s certainly not something a future queen should be doing—crossing the garden like that—but if she sees Felicia there, we can make her witness it without allowing direct contact. And I’ll be right beside her, able to observe every change in her expression.”
When Alexis had said this, he’d worn that same icy smile—one he would never, ever show to Felicia.
Following Alexis’s instructions, they headed toward the corridor leading to the audience chamber. Seeing Felicia’s tense expression, Yoann whispered softly to her:
“I’m here. Don’t worry about a thing.”
He briefly took her hand. For a split second, his eyes gleamed with a vivid crimson light before returning to their usual indigo-grey—conveying silently that everything would be all right.
“Yes… thank you.”
Felicia’s shoulders relaxed, and a natural smile rose to her lips.
Supported by such a reassuring presence, she stepped into the corridor.
