Chapter 59…
The Hammer of Judgment Falls.
As Felicia collapsed and was lifted up by her attendant, the voice of the Chancellor rang through the great hall.
“His Majesty the King has arrived!”
All eyes turned toward the throne set upon the dais at the back of the hall. Following the king entered the queen, Alexis, and Celine. The hall erupted in cheers and applause—though they mingled with worried murmurs over Felicia’s sudden collapse.
But when the king stepped forward, the noise died away.
“My people, I thank you for gathering here today. There is something I must announce to you all.”
He paused, sweeping his gaze across the invited guests before declaring in a clear, resounding voice:
“The engagement between Crown Prince Alexis and Lady Celine of House Dupla is hereby annulled as of this moment!”
“What—!?”
Yvette and Celine shouted almost simultaneously, and confusion spread throughout the hall.
“What does this mean? What happened?”
“Another broken engagement?”
“More importantly, is Lady Felicia all right?”
“Everyone, silence! Look at this.”
At the king’s command, an image appeared within a large magic stone prepared on the dais. The projection began with Celine tearfully begging Yvette to do something about Felicia. It seemed someone had recorded the scene from outside the window. The images shifted one after another, exposing the misdeeds of Yvette, Celine, and Baron Raymond for all to see. The guests, struck speechless by the revelations, could only stare in silence at the glowing stone.
“As you have witnessed, the crimes of these people are beyond doubt. The evidence is more than sufficient. Therefore, the engagement between Crown Prince Alexis and Celine is annulled. Guards—seize Yvette, Celine, and Baron Raymond!”
When the projection ended, the king gave his stern command. Soldiers entered the hall.
“How… how could this happen…?”
Celine, pale as death, fell to her knees.
“This is all lies!”
Baron Raymond shouted and tried to flee, Yvette hastily following after him.
“There is still plenty more evidence.”
A calm yet commanding voice echoed through the hall. Standing before the baron and Yvette was the young attendant who had moments earlier carried Felicia. Now, Felicia stood firmly beside him, her eyes burning as she fixed her gaze on Yvette.
“Felicia!? How are you—!?”
Yvette’s voice trembled in shock.
In that instant, the attendant transformed—his form shifting into that of a man wearing a goat skull upon his head.
“Th—the Demon King!?”
At the sight of the devilish figure, not only Baron Raymond and Yvette but the entire hall froze in terror.
