Chapter 6…
Two Souls Coexisting
After eating and drinking her fill, Su Ye had lazily yawned.
Han Zheng had seen it all, and his eyes were filled with unconcealable panic.
“Before, there were some beastmen who suddenly started vomiting nonstop for no reason. In the end… they just stopped breathing like that…”
As he spoke, Han Zheng’s fingertips trembled slightly.
Without even realizing it, he had already come to regard Su Ye as someone extremely important.
Su Ye’s head was still spinning, and her stomach still churned with acid, but her heart softened. She reached out and gently hugged Han Zheng.
“Big snake, don’t cry, don’t cry.”
“Han Zheng, I’m fine. Don’t overthink it,” Su Ye comforted softly.
“I just need to rest for a while. Could you go gather some branches and leaves, then roast a little meat for me, okay?”
In truth, Su Ye had no appetite at all.
But seeing Han Zheng so worried, she figured it would be better to give him something to do. Once people became busy, they usually had less time to dwell on their emotions.
The moment Han Zheng heard that Su Ye wanted roasted meat, he immediately went off to look for branches and leaves without another word.
This was only the roadside. To find dry branches and leaves, he had to venture into the forest.
Watching his departing figure, Su Ye sighed softly.
Supporting herself against a thick tree, she slowly sat down and leaned against its roots, closing her eyes to rest.
How strange.
Although she suffered from motion sickness, this episode was far too severe.
Could it be because this body was simply too weak?
A gentle breeze drifted through the forest.
Branches and leaves swayed lightly.
No one noticed that atop the tree trunk sat an incomparably beautiful man dressed in white.
His long white hair fluttered in the wind. His narrow fox-like eyes slowly opened, and pale white motes of light appeared around him.
His spotless white robes were untouched by dust.
His figure was elegant and ethereal.
His palm-sized face possessed exquisitely sculpted features, while his enchanting narrow eyes gazed calmly downward at Su Ye beneath the tree.
Behind him, nine fluffy snow-white tails swayed gently.
Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows across his cold yet bewitchingly beautiful face, enough to captivate anyone’s soul.
Looking at the female below, a trace of shock flashed through Ye Heng’s eyes.
His interest was piqued.
His thin lips moved slightly.
“It’s actually… two souls coexisting?”
As his words fell, his figure floated lightly downward.
With a tap of his toes, he silently descended from the tree.
His long, fair fingers lifted, drawing a mysterious pattern in the air before Su Ye.
The next second, a white sphere of light emitting a faint glow slowly emerged from between Su Ye’s brows.
Ye Heng looked toward the sphere and spoke in a clear, gentle voice.
“You exhausted your ability to summon me. Is something the matter?”
After speaking, Ye Heng glanced at Su Ye lying on the ground.
The white sphere trembled lightly twice in response.
Ye Heng smiled.
“In that case, I can help you.
“But you… may die.”
His fingertip lifted slightly.
A strand of soft light burst forth, carrying the white sphere directly into Su Ye’s mind.
In an instant—
The world spun.
Su Ye felt her consciousness sink.
When she opened her eyes again, endless white mist stretched around her in every direction.
“Where is this?”
She frowned, confusion filling her heart.
A weak, soft female voice sounded behind her, cautiously calling her name.
“Su Ye.”
Turning around, Su Ye saw a skinny young girl standing there.
She wore tattered beast-hide clothing and looked frail and malnourished.
Yet that face…
It was exactly the same as hers.
“You are… the original Su Ye who lived in this world?” Su Ye guessed.
The girl revealed a gentle smile.
“You really are very smart.”
“What place is this?”
“This is your Sea of Consciousness. You can also think of it as your own personal spiritual world,” the girl explained softly.
Su Ye wondered why she had suddenly entered her Sea of Consciousness and met the original owner of this body.
The girl seemed to see through her confusion and spoke gently.
“It was Qiu Ying—the female you met before.”
“Not long ago, she told me she would take me into the forest to gather wild fruit. Then she abandoned me on top of a tree.”
Lowering her eyes, she continued:
“Later, I exhausted all my strength and fell from the tree, slipping into a near-death coma.”
“At the moment of death, I unexpectedly saw your world. Like watching flowers from horseback, I witnessed your entire life, until it stopped on the day of your car accident.”
The girl raised her gaze.
“And at that very moment, I unexpectedly awakened a soul communication ability.”
She continued slowly.
“Unfortunately, I was too weak to use any energy at all. I could only risk everything and try to warn you about the car so you could avoid it.”
“But I failed.”
“By a twist of fate, I ended up pulling your soul into the Beastman World instead.”
“Afterward, I fell into a deep sleep because I consumed too much of my ability.”
“All this time, I’ve been sleeping within your Sea of Consciousness.”
“I could sense your joys, anger, sorrow, and happiness. I could see everything you experienced.”
“But my power has been continuously draining away.”
“I’m about to disappear completely.”
“I could only try guiding you back toward the Xuanhu Tribe. This road happens to be the only route leading there.”
“I sensed that nearby, there was an extremely powerful high-level soul ability user.”
Only then did Su Ye finally understand.
That inexplicable anxiety she had felt from the beginning…
That overwhelming urge to return to the tribe immediately…
None of it had been coincidence.
Now she understood the entire cause and effect.
“With the last of my energy, fortunately, he turned out to be a good beastman.”
The girl looked beyond the mist.
“It was because he helped that I was able to speak with you here.”
Her face filled with guilt.
Her voice grew subdued.
“I’m sorry for forcibly dragging you into this world.”
“I only have one final trace of energy left. Soon, I’ll disappear completely.”
“It was my mistake that brought you here.”
“If you don’t want to stay in this world, I can use the last of my strength to send your soul back to your original world.”
The girl stood quietly, patiently waiting for Su Ye’s choice.
After a moment of silence, Su Ye raised her eyes.
“In my original world… what’s happened to me now?”
She still remembered that she had transmigrated after a car accident.
The girl waved her hand.
Images unfolded across the white Sea of Consciousness.
The horrific accident scene.
The ambulance rushing to the scene.
The busy medical staff.
Finally, the image froze inside a cold, brightly lit emergency room.
“You were saved.”
“Your life is no longer in danger.”
“You’re currently in a vegetative state.”
After hesitating briefly, the girl slowly revealed the cruel truth.
“…If you choose to return, you will wake up.”
“But all four of your limbs are completely paralyzed.”
“There’s nothing I can do about it.”
“You’ll never be able to walk normally or live a normal life again.”
After hearing this, Su Ye slowly lowered her head.
No way.
If she returned without functioning arms and legs, Wan He would cry herself to death.
And besides…
How was she supposed to pay rent like that?!
After a long silence, she raised her head.
Her eyes flickered.
“If I choose to stay here… what will happen to you?”
The girl smiled in relief.
“I have no attachment to this world.”
“My father and mother are already gone.”
“My ability is almost exhausted, and I’ve already used up all of my source energy.”
“Once a beastman exhausts their source energy, they disappear completely and cease to exist.”
“But your soul’s arrival allowed this body to continue living.”
“So… you can keep living in this body.”
“Isn’t there any other way?” Su Ye asked, her heart aching.
“You don’t need to feel sad for me.”
The girl walked forward gently.
Her frail hand softly touched Su Ye’s cheek.
Within her dim eyes reflected the brightness in Su Ye’s gaze.
“My previous life was very dark.”
“But you’re different.”
“In your eyes are the sun, moon, and stars.”
“You’re passionate and full of life.”
“Please live on in my place.”
“Live freely and without regrets.”
Su Ye closed her eyes and placed her hand over the girl’s icy hand.
“There isn’t much time left.”
The girl smiled softly.
Her gaze fell upon the beast mark at Su Ye’s collarbone.
With meaningful amusement, she said:
“Your beast husband is about to return.”
“If you don’t wake up soon, he’ll probably blow this entire barrier apart.”
Tears welled in Su Ye’s eyes.
Looking at the gentle girl before her, she said softly:
“Thank you.”
“Thank you for giving me another chance to live.”
“I’ll live well.”
“I’ll carry your share of life with me too.”
“And I’m heading straight to the Xuanhu Tribe to personally kill Qiu Ying!”
The girl’s clear laughter echoed throughout the Sea of Consciousness.
“Thank you.”
“But what I truly hope is simply that you live happily and healthily.”
“Nothing else matters anymore.”
As her words fell—
A dazzling white light exploded outward.
Immediately afterward, all of the original owner’s memories surged into Su Ye’s mind like a tidal wave.
Qiu Ying would tell the tribe’s beastmen that she had delivered prey to Su Ye—
Then secretly steal away the processed meat.
The poor little Su Ye had spent years starving.
She would also be locked inside cold, pitch-black caves for no reason, forced to endure one endless night after another.
She had even been tied high in a tree and left there until she exhausted all her strength and fell.
Scene after scene flooded Su Ye’s mind.
Her eyes turned red with anger.
The white light dispersed.
Su Ye’s entire body trembled.
Her eyelashes fluttered violently as she suddenly opened her eyes and completely returned to reality.
At the instant her eyes opened—
She vaguely saw a blurry white figure standing in the tree above.
