Chapter 52
I Enrolled in the Academy
In the novel Gran Avert, I—Leticia Rosenberg—was supposed to die before entering the academy.
But! I’ve safely enrolled in Veritas Academy!
Yaaay. Clap clap clap.
No really, I mean it.
In the original story, I died at just seven years old—the year before my brother entered the academy. So I kept thinking that if the special medicine for magic overload wasn’t completed before my eighth birthday, I’d really die just like in the story.
I mean, yes, finding the golden lycoris flower garden—the key ingredient for the cure—in the cave where the holy sword was located was great and all, but… all the flowers were connected by their roots. And because Elvin cut the roots cleanly without hesitation, there ended up being only one surviving plant.
For the time being, we took it back to the royal capital and placed it in the greenhouse I received as a birthday gift when I turned five. It managed to take root, but the golden lycoris didn’t propagate at all.
We couldn’t recreate the exact cave environment, but we tried to get close.
We placed rocks along the greenhouse walls.
We even hung cloth from the ceiling to make it slightly dimmer.
It kind of defeats the purpose of a greenhouse, but hey—it’s still a closed environment, so it was perfect as an experimental space for the golden lycoris.
Right next to the greenhouse was Professor Robert’s residence and laboratory, so he and my brother practically lived there, devoting themselves entirely to cultivating the golden lycoris.
But the golden lycoris simply would not increase.
Worse, the single surviving flower started to wilt.
We wondered if maybe it needed the holy sword’s magic—like it had in the cave—so we had the holy sword create a replica of itself and stabbed it into the center of the greenhouse.
And then—guess what happened.
The golden lycoris that had been on the verge of dying revived instantly, regained its vitality, and multiplied at an incredible rate.
As expected of the holy sword.
The real one is mysteriously in a human form serving as my butler, but even the replica released enough magic power.
Holy Sword-san, thank you!
But honestly, realizing the cause was my brother’s brilliance at work.
As expected of someone I’ve adored since my previous life!
Smart, kind, and unbelievably beautiful.
That is my brother—Sélios Rosenberg.
Once the golden lycoris started multiplying, the rest was left to Professor Robert’s research.
We discovered that the nectar of the flower was effective and could greatly suppress the symptoms of magic overload, but after that, we hit a wall.
As my body grew, so did my magic, so even if I didn’t collapse at seven like in the original, I would eventually suffer a magic overload attack.
Professor Robert managed to create a complete cure for magic overload in the novel.
So he should be able to do it in reality too!
That’s when inspiration struck me.
If the flower’s nectar works… wouldn’t propolis work even better?
Propolis is a natural resin produced by bees to fill gaps in their hives.
When plants are injured, they secrete resin to protect the wound, and they also send antimicrobial substances to guard new buds or blossoms from pathogens.
Wouldn’t that antimicrobial property work in the medicine?
This world has bees that are like a mix between honeybees and bumblebees.
They’re slightly bigger than honeybees, round and chubby, and they don’t have stingers.
They’re very tame, so raising them inside the greenhouse wasn’t an issue.
So we released the bees inside the greenhouse and harvested propolis.
And then—unbelievably—the special medicine for magic overload was finally completed!
And that happened just three days before my brother entered the academy.
