Chapter – 68
Jealousy Rising
She waved her hand. When her eyes met An Jianqing’s, she ran over happily.
“Big sister, you’re finally back.”
“Yes.” An Jianqing smiled softly. “Let me introduce you. This is my friend, Su Ya.”
“Hello, Xuechu. I’m Su Ya. We talked this morning. This doll is for you. I hope you like it.”
Su Ya smiled brightly and took out a doll from behind her back. She had clearly been hiding it to give her a surprise.
Ning Xuechu blinked shyly but did not reach out to take it.
“Xuechu, take it,” An Jianqing said.
“Alright. Thank you.” Ning Xuechu pressed her lips into a small smile. She took the doll and immediately handed it to Uncle Zhang.
In her heart, she hated it. She did not want to accept the doll at all. Even touching it made her feel annoyed.
“Let’s go back,” An Jianqing said, giving Su Ya a look.
Su Ya quickly followed and held An Jianqing’s arm.
Ning Xuechu watched them from behind. A sharp light flashed in her eyes.
The four of them walked toward the parking lot. Uncle Zhang pushed the luggage at the back.
Ning Xuechu hurried to catch up with An Jianqing and walked beside her.
“Big sister, are you going to drive yourself?” she asked with concern.
An Jianqing hummed and continued walking.
“Darling, you’re so tired today. Let’s ride together,” Su Ya said sweetly, acting like a devoted girlfriend.
An Jianqing frowned slightly and gave her a warning look.
Su Ya immediately stopped her poor acting and stayed quiet.
Seeing their close posture, anger rushed into Ning Xuechu’s heart. She tried hard to control it and smiled.
“Big sister, I’ll drive. You can rest for a while. Second Uncle and the others are coming later.”
An Jianqing wanted to refuse at first, but when she heard the last sentence, she nodded.
Those people were not easy to deal with. She really needed to rest and prepare herself for tonight’s “family banquet.”
“Did you inform Second Uncle and Little Aunt?” An Jianqing asked as she handed over the car keys.
“I told them and set the time,” Ning Xuechu replied. She opened the passenger door. “Big sister, get in.”
An Jianqing bent down and got into the car.
Ning Xuechu closed the door, walked to the driver’s seat, and started the car.
Su Ya stood behind, completely ignored. She stared blankly at the car as it left.
When Uncle Zhang walked over, she smiled brightly.
“I’ll ride with you.”
“Alright, Miss Su. Please wait a moment,” Uncle Zhang said politely, though there was surprise in his eyes.
Su Ya understood that look.
She had come as An Jianqing’s girlfriend. Logically, she should sit with An Jianqing. Before coming, An Jianqing told her to act well and not let anyone see through them. But An Jianqing herself forgot and left her, the “girlfriend,” behind.
After the car left the airport, An Jianqing suddenly remembered.
“Where is Xiaoya?” she asked quickly.
“She’s with Uncle Zhang,” Ning Xuechu answered, the corner of her lips lifting slightly.
An Jianqing felt relieved and closed her eyes to rest.
Her phone vibrated in her bag. She took it out. It was a missed call from Su Ya.
“President An, I’m playing your girlfriend right now. You left me behind. Isn’t that too unprofessional? If the act fails, don’t blame me.”
After reading the message, An Jianqing understood what she had forgotten.
She had subconsciously thought of herself as single. Plus, she was thinking about tonight’s matters. By “accident,” she forgot about Su Ya.
“I know. Act normally. Don’t be too enthusiastic. I don’t like clingy and spoiled partners.”
Su Ya pouted and replied with a simple “Okay.”
Then she sent another message helplessly.
“Omegas are naturally delicate. No matter how smart and strong they are at work, in front of their lover, they will soften and become gentle.”
An Jianqing understood what she meant.
Su Ya was reminding her that she had pretended to be an Alpha for too long and had even forgotten the nature of an Omega.
But An Jianqing’s identity and situation did not allow her to show weakness. Once she showed any flaw, those people with evil intentions would step on her without mercy.
Behind her was the hard work of the entire Ning Corporation. She could not relax even a little.
“Big sister, your brows are tightly furrowed. Are you feeling unwell?” Ning Xuechu asked with concern.
“I’m fine,” An Jianqing replied softly. She put down her phone and continued to rest.
When they returned to the villa, it was already five o’clock.
Ning Xuechu stopped the car and turned to look at the person in the passenger seat.
The evening sunlight shone on that cold and beautiful face, adding a touch of softness. The calm and powerful aura she usually had now carried a trace of fragility.
Ning Xuechu stared, a little lost in thought. She leaned closer slowly.
As if sensing something, An Jianqing suddenly woke up. When she opened her eyes, she saw a face very close to hers.
Before she could react, her heart began to pound wildly. The shadow moved closer and closer. She felt frozen and could not move.
“Big sister, you’re awake. We’re here,” Ning Xuechu said with a light laugh. She reached out naturally and unfastened the seat belt.
Her slender fingers pressed the buckle.
Click.
An Jianqing suddenly came back to her senses.
“I’ll do it,” she said softly.
She reached for the seat belt, but accidentally touched another hand.
The burning warmth startled her. She quickly pulled her hand back and quietly looked at the face so close to hers.
“Big sister, it’s done,” Ning Xuechu said with a gentle smile.
Sunlight fell on her face, turning her dark eyes into a faint brown color, adding a touch of mystery.
