Chapter 19
Definitely Getting Scolded
After delivering the documents, Li Yan did not stay any longer.
He placed the untouched glass of water in his hand onto the table.
Before leaving, the corner of his eye caught the figure busily moving around in the kitchen.
At that moment, Li Yan did not knowā
That such an ordinary scene, filled with the warmth of everyday life, would later become a memory someone desperately longed for but could never get back.
After Li Yan left, Lin Suian became even more uneasy.
In front of outsiders, Shi Yushen would at least restrain his temper a little.
But when facing him alone, he became completely different.
Nervously, Lin Suian carried the freshly cooked dishes into the living room.
The back of his hand had been splashed by hot oil while cooking, forming several blisters that stung and itched painfully.
Even though he had already rinsed them under cold waterā
It still did not help much.
Shi Yushen accepted the bowls and chopsticks from him but did not start eating immediately.
He looked at the carefully prepared dishes covering the table, yet still seemed dissatisfied.
Slowly, he said:
āGo buy me some crayfish.ā
Shi Yushen gave him the address.
The place was very far away. Just taking the bus there and back would already take an hour.
Lin Suian lightly scratched the blister on his hand and softly asked, almost hoping Shi Yushen would compromise:
āDo you really have to eat from this restaurant? Actually, I know another place with really good crayfish too. Maybe it would suit your taste.ā
Shi Yushen ignored him completely and simply picked up the remote to turn on the television.
Which restaurant tasted better was not important.
What mattered was that Shi Yushen wanted this restaurant today.
Even if Shi Yushen was deliberately making things difficult for him, Lin Suian still had to bring those crayfish back.
Knowing how picky and stubborn his tastes were, Lin Suian stopped asking questions.
Before leaving, he even carefully removed all the fish bones from Shi Yushenās bowl.
Tsk.
Was he deliberately trying to please him?
Shi Yushen stared at the bowl of fish meat with all the bones removed, not knowing what he was thinking.
By the time he came back to his senses, Lin Suian had already taken off the apron and left the house with an umbrella in one hand and a garbage bag in the other.
When he first stepped outside, it was only drizzling lightly.
Lin Suian looked up at the gloomy sky before being squeezed into the crowded bus.
After changing buses several times, he finally arrived at the restaurant.
The rain grew heavier and heavier. Half of Lin Suianās body was already soaked wet.
Closing his umbrella, he called out:
āBoss, one spicy crayfish please.ā
āAlright! But there are a lot of customers today, so youāll need to wait a bit. Find a seat first.ā
The air conditioner inside the restaurant was still running.
His wet clothes clung uncomfortably to his skin.
Not long after, he caught a chill and started sneezing.
After waiting almost half an hour, the owner finally handed him the crayfish.
āTake care. Welcome back next time.ā
Lin Suian nodded and left with his umbrella.
Outside, the rain had become even more violent.
He had no choice but to hold the crayfish tightly in his arms to stop it from getting wet.
Originally, he thought he would make it home safely.
But on the road back to the villa, he accidentally slipped because he was rushing.
Everything fell onto the ground.
Lin Suian slowly climbed back up from the muddy road, his whole body covered in dirt.
He let out a deep sigh.
It could not be eaten anymore.
Looks like he would just have to go back and wait to get scolded.
One by one, he picked up the crayfish from the mud and put them back into the box.
He had already prepared explanations in his mind.
But when he finally reached the door, he suddenly became too afraid to go inside.
He stood there hesitating back and forth, his face full of worry.
Inside the house, Shi Yushen had already gotten sleepy from watching television dramas.
Only then did he glance at the clock across the room.
His lips moved slightly as he muttered to himself:
āWhat time is it already? Why isnāt he back yet?ā
Even if he had gotten into a car accident halfway there, someone should have informed him by now.
