The Story of a Hotel Cleaner

This is a story about someone who works as a cleaner at a capsule hotel.

At the hotel where they worked, there was a regular guest who was… a little unusual.

Apparently, after this person stayed, a large amount of hair would mysteriously end up in the shared showers, toilets, and other wet areas.

The regular guest was a woman in her 50s, with long black hair and a somewhat gloomy appearance.

According to the hotel cleaner who told the story, this woman had been coming to the capsule hotel even before they started working there.

Sometimes as often as five times a week, but at least three times a week.

As a cleaner, they honestly found it troublesome and wanted the woman banned, but it wasn’t so simple to just bar someone from the hotel…

One day, while performing their usual cleaning, they noticed that the drain in the shared shower was clogged with an unusually large amount of hair.

It was at a level where they wondered how the hotel hadn’t received complaints yet.

The cleaner instinctively thought that the regular guest had left all this hair again, and decided, this time for sure, they would ask the hotel manager to ban her.

Annoyed at the sheer filth, the cleaner lifted the black clump of hair.

On closer inspection, it looked like a wig. The hair wasn’t tangled naturally—it was neatly arranged.

But something felt off. It was extremely soft, and there was a strange smell.

Feeling uneasy, the cleaner tried to throw it in a trash bag, but a faint red liquid spilled out.

At that moment, the uneasy feeling became a certainty.

This wasn’t a wig. It was human scalp…

Immediately, the cleaner called the hotel manager.

The manager lifted the scalp as well.

At first, the manager was skeptical.

But the moment they lifted it, their face changed.

The manager called the police.

Until the police arrived, the cleaner thought it might have been some kind of toy, but that assumption was wrong.

It was a real human scalp.
Blood, skin, hair—everything was human.

The police spent a full two days searching the hotel, checking trash bags, drains, and every corner.

Since it happened on a weekday afternoon, there were only a few guests, so the investigation was quick.

One thing became clear:

The woman in her 50s—the one who always left huge amounts of hair—was nowhere to be found.

She wasn’t in her room.
Other rooms and beds were checked, but she was gone.

The hotel, being a capsule hotel in the city, had only one entrance for guests (staff and delivery had separate entrances). The front desk monitored guest comings and goings, and since this woman was considered a suspicious guest, they would have been keeping an eye on her.

Yet the front desk reported seeing no record of her leaving.

With only one person missing, the police naturally focused their suspicion on her.

Was she involved in the incident, or was she the cause of it…?

The police said they reviewed the surveillance footage.

Since the area wasn’t very safe, there were surprisingly many cameras for a hotel of that size. So they thought it would be easy to see how the woman had left.

The showers were cleaned three times a day.
The woman had checked in about three hours before the cleaner went in that day.

In addition, there had been a cleaning shift eight hours before that, which was mostly garbage removal and supply checks—but surely someone would have noticed if clumps of hair had been left.

The police thoroughly checked the footage, but the woman was never seen leaving.
She was visible checking in, but not leaving.

They also searched the surrounding area, but she was nowhere to be found. She didn’t appear on nearby convenience store cameras either.

Incidentally, the name and address she had written at check-in were completely fake.

Where did she go?

Also, nothing remained except the scalp itself, so it’s unknown whether the person the scalp belonged to was alive.

And why was the scalp even left there in the first place?

It was a truly disturbing and mysterious incident.
