Story 63

Handprint in the House

After my grandfather passed away, I was cleaning a room in my grandmother’s house that had been used as a storage room.
It wasn’t a storage room in the strict sense—it was more like one room of the house had simply been repurposed to store things.

My grandfather’s house is very old. It’s been standing since he was a child, and although it once caught fire, it was spared from complete destruction. I’m not sure exactly how many years ago that was, but I believe it happened during or just after the war.
I also heard that, during that time, one of my grandfather’s brothers passed away.

While I was cleaning the storage room, I tried to open the window for ventilation, and that’s when I noticed something strange: on the upper wooden frame of the window, there were countless handprints, just like in the photo.

Could these handprints belong to my grandfather’s deceased brother?
