Story 2
The Hair in the Classroom
It happened more than 20 years ago, back when I was in third grade.
It had become my routine to be the very first student to arrive at school. In the early mornings, the only people there were me, the vice-principal, the young male teacher of Class 3-2, and about three janitors.
That day was no different. I was the first to arrive at school as usual. I remember it being quite dim, since it was a winter morning.
I headed toward my classroom, Class 3-4, which was located at the far end of the building. On the way, I gave a loud, typically childish “Good morning!!!” to the teacher of Class 3-2. He cheerfully returned my greeting, just like always.
Then, when I opened the door to my classroom, I froze.
Right in the middle of the room, a black object was floating. Startled, I stared at it. Looking closer, I realized it was a mass of long hair, tangled together into a ball and hovering in the air. The sight was so bizarre that I let out an ear-splitting scream.
The teacher from Class 3-2 rushed over. Then the janitors and the vice-principal came running as well. The adults calmly closed the curtains, turned off the lights I had switched on, and told me to stay in Class 3-2’s room.
After about 15 minutes, the vice-principal came to me and said, “You won’t be able to use Class 4’s room today. Take your backpack and go to the multi-purpose room downstairs.”
So that day, I spent all my classes in that room. A black cloth had been taped over the glass window on Class 4’s door, and every door and window was locked tight.
From the next day on, however, we used Class 4 as if nothing had happened.
What on earth was that mass of hair?
And what did the teachers know?
