Chapter 06
A knock sounded, and once again, without waiting for a reply, the second son Aiden barged in.
âBig sister, are you here~?â
Spotting Liliana in the room, he ran over with a beaming smile and exclaimed,
âWow, big sister, youâre so cute~!â
Then, being careful not to mess up her hairstyle, he pressed his cheek against her head and kept saying, âCute, cute,â over and over while hugging her tightly.
One might think that if he was going to be so careful, he could just avoid rubbing his face against her, but in his mind, that option didnât exist.
It seemed, as with their older brother, the younger sibling was just as headstrong.
In terms of appearances alone, they looked more like brother and sister reversedâolder brother and younger sisterâthan a big sister with a little brother. While it might seem heartwarming at first glance, this was hardly appropriate behavior for a sister of marriageable age⊠presumably?
Yet in the Villiers household, this was a normal scene, and by now, no one paid it any mind.
They moved over to the sofa and had tea prepared. While the three siblings enjoyed a conversation together, Ianâs attendant informed them that it was almost time to depart.
âAlright, Iâll be off now,â Liliana said.
Aiden, looking a bit sulky, complained to Ian,
âI wanted to escort big sister myself.â
âSorry about that. Well, Iâll be going then.â
âMake sure no strange pests get near her.â
âUnderstood.â
Thanks to this thorough family-wide protection, not even a single insect had a chance to approach Liliana for now.
Many might question whether such vigilance was suitable for a young lady of marriageable age, but no one was bold enough to voice it.
Like a watchful guard dog, Ian rode in the carriage with Liliana as they made their way to the royal castle.
Thanks to the invitation, they were able to enter the castle smoothly, but the area near the carriage entrance was crowded, and they had to wait in the carriage for a while.
âWould it be so bad if we just went home?â
âLil? Iâd be happy that way too, but today⊠thatâs impossible.â
âI know. I was just saying it.â
Saying this in a pouty manner, Liliana looked out the window at the long line of carriages ahead and let out a grand sigh.
âThey should make it so only the young ladies who want to participate attendâŠâ
Though she understood it was unavoidable, seeing how long the line of carriages was, she couldnât help but voice her grudge.
Chuckling at her, Ian gently patted her head and said,
âAt a palace-hosted party, Lil, there will be plenty of delicious things you love.â
