Chapter 10 …
 âHuman Trash Like You?â
âHowever, not only Lilliana and Douglas, but also the others around them are saying that you did it. How do you explain that?â
Even though I had told her that it wasnât me who flooded the dining hall, but Lilliana and the others, this elf teacher, Professor Sisil Sisilka, was not listening to my story at all. Worse, she was acting as if Lilliana and Douglas were the ones telling the truth.
Since Sisil-sensei is an elf, she is a magic instructor. Because of that, I had thought she would look at the situation from a magical standpoint rather than a âmany against oneâ situation (me versus Lilliana, Douglas, and their followers), and realize there was no way I could have used water magic to flood the place. But I was foolish to think thatâthis realization left me feeling empty.
It is true that my reputation at this academy is practically nonexistent (thanks to Lilliana and Douglas in the first place), but even so, I couldnât help but let out a deep sigh at the fact that even a teacher was treating me as guilty from the very beginning.
My sigh echoed through the empty classroom, and of course, it seemed Sisil-sensei heard it.
There was no way an elf with superior hearing wouldnât have heard it.
As proof, Sisil-senseiâs expression had become one that anyone would immediately describe as âangryâ after seeing it.
In the past, just seeing that expression of rage from Sisil-sensei would have made me immediately apologizeâeven for something I didnât do, even though I was the victim.
Someone without power had no choice but to obey those who held power in order to survive.
âWhat is wrong with you? Iâm speaking to you kindly like this, and not only do you talk back, you even sigh. Are you making a fool of me? Human trash like you? To me, an elf?â
Sisil-sensei casually uttered discriminatory words while calmly letting her anger show.
From her behavior, it was obvious she looked down on humans, and that the reason for her anger was that sheâan elfâhad been âmockedâ by someone as low-ranking as me among humans.
âDo you want to be killed?â
Now fully abandoning any attempt to hide her anger, Sisil-sensei released killing intent and stepped closer to me.
In the past, I would have definitely wet myself from fear.
However, right now, even with Sisil-sensei glaring at me from close range while releasing killing intent, I donât feel even the slightest fear.
I am beginning to understand, through my own experience, what it means to obtain powerâand I am also starting to understand, in a vague way, the feelings of those who possess it and misuse it.
