Chapter 8 …
“That’s Why You’re Useless”
Today’s classes are mathematics in the first period and practical skills in the second period.
As for mathematics, it is nothing more than elementary arithmetic compared to what I had in my previous life, so there is nothing to learn now. It will simply become free time, and I plan to use it to recheck my status.
Unlike a game, this world is reality. Failure can directly lead to death.
That is exactly why I absolutely cannot afford an ending where I die just because of some small mistake, despite having been reincarnated as a character in this game-like world.
And I want to live in this world exactly as I please before I die.
Because of that, I believe it is necessary to clearly understand what I can do and what I cannot.
Also, there is simply the desire to look at my own status, but that is probably an unavoidable feeling after everything I have been through.
And while I was looking over my status and imagining various scenarios, time passed in an instant, and the first period ended.
After the first period ends, it becomes lunch break. However, there are no boxed lunches, so everyone moves to the cafeteria to eat. That is precisely why I absolutely hate this lunch break.
Because if everyone is going to the cafeteria to eat, then naturally those people will come there too.
“Oh, if it isn’t my defective older brother who’ll be put out of his misery by me tomorrow!!”
“……………”
“Hey you!! My future husband is kindly speaking to a useless trash like you, and you dare not respond—what exactly is that supposed to mean?”
And as I quietly slipped into the cafeteria, trying to hide my presence and wondering what to eat from the buffet-style dishes laid out, I heard those two voices I did not want to hear, and I immediately felt exhausted.
However, based on past experience, responding to them had never brought me anything good. So this time, I decided—for the first time—to ignore them.
Ignoring the two who called out to me—my younger brother Douglas and my fiancée Lilliana—would have been unthinkable for my past self out of sheer fear.
But that was because until now I had no power, and I knew that no matter what happened, I could not fight back.
As I was thinking that, Lilliana apparently used water magic on me, dropping a water sphere onto my head, soaking not only me but also the surrounding area.
What on earth is this woman thinking? No—rather, she probably isn’t thinking at all, which is why she can do something like this.
“Can’t you hear me? That’s why you’re useless.”
