Chapter 1
A black Maybach was driving smoothly on the highway.
Chen Pingzhou watched the road ahead and said, “I’ve already told you everything you need to know. Your only target is the old master. Anyone else trying to get close to you, you don’t need to pay attention to them. Don’t let them catch any weaknesses, understand?”
The person sitting in the passenger seat was a girl in her late teens.
She looked like someone favored by the heavens—fair skin like snow, delicate and clear features like a painting. She wore a simple white dress, like melting spring snow: clean, cold, and bright.
“Understood,” the girl replied.
But it was a boy’s voice.
“Good. Any questions? Ask now. Once we arrive, you can’t speak anymore.”
The boy heard “arrive” and nervously twisted the hem of his skirt.
“Will I really not get exposed like this?”
“Don’t worry. Everything is arranged. As long as you are careful—don’t slip up and speak, don’t expose that you’re a boy—nothing will go wrong. Think about the 100,000 yuan. Jiang Cheng, I believe you can do it.”
At the mention of 100,000 yuan, Jiang Cheng immediately became alert, his eyes firm.
He had just finished his college entrance exam. His scores were enough for his dream university, but his family was poor. Tuition and living costs were a huge burden.
He had been planning to work multiple summer jobs when this man, Chen Pingzhou, found him.
He said Jiang Cheng looked very similar to his older sister. His sister had a daughter who had been lost for over ten years and never found.
This had become the old master’s lifelong regret.
Now the old master was seriously ill, and the doctor said he only had about two months left to live. He wanted to see his granddaughter one last time so he could leave without regret.
At first, Jiang Cheng refused immediately when he heard he had to pretend to be a girl.
Come on. He was a rough guy—how could he possibly pass as a girl? He would be exposed in seconds.
“No, no, no, I can’t…”
“After it’s done, I’ll give you 100,000 yuan.”
“…It’s just pretending to be a girl for two months. I can do it.”
He immediately changed his mind.
100,000 yuan—money he could never even dream of. Just two months of pretending, acting as someone’s granddaughter. That was easier than working in a fast-food shop or milk tea store by a hundred times.
After confirming it wasn’t a scam, Jiang Cheng signed the contract without hesitation and just like that, dressed in women’s clothes and followed Chen Pingzhou to the big city.
“I will succeed!” Jiang Cheng clenched his fist.
This money was his guarantee for university. His future depended on it. He must succeed.
Chen Pingzhou was satisfied with his determination.
“No need to be too nervous. The old master is weak right now. You won’t need to stay with him much. Maybe my stepmother might make things difficult for you, but it will only be minor grievances. With the old master protecting you, she won’t go too far.”
“Okay,” Jiang Cheng nodded.
“There’s a service area ahead. We’ll rest there for a bit. After getting off the highway, I’ll drive directly to the Chen family estate.”
The car pulled into the service area.
Chen Pingzhou got out to go to the restroom.
Jiang Cheng hadn’t drunk water the entire trip because he didn’t want to get caught needing to use a public women’s bathroom.
But sitting for so long made him stiff, so he also got out to stretch.
The service area was large, full of cars. Coming from a small town, Jiang Cheng felt a little overwhelmed by the city atmosphere.
Suddenly, a car horn sounded nearby, startling him. He instinctively stepped back.
But someone was behind him, and he accidentally stepped on that person’s foot—and almost fell.
“Be careful.”
A man behind him steadied him briefly, then immediately let go politely.
Jiang Cheng turned around.
The man was very tall. Jiang Cheng was 176 cm, but still had to look up.
The man’s face was strikingly handsome—cold and refined, with broad shoulders and a straight back.
Most noticeable was his height—around 190 cm.
His exposed forearm had faint, defined muscles, and his light shirt outlined a strong, well-built frame. Just standing there gave off pressure, making people instinctively feel intimidated.
Jiang Cheng quickly stepped back.
Then he looked down and saw his white sneaker had a shoe print on it.
His scalp went numb.
It looked expensive. Was he going to get hit?
With that build, one punch would send him flying.
Jiang Cheng swallowed hard and opened his mouth to apologize—but then remembered he was dressed as a girl.
He swallowed the words and quickly took out his phone to type.
“Sorry.”
The man looked at the screen, then at him.
Jiang Cheng was wearing a white dress. Tall and slim, with long black hair, he looked very pure and clean—like a first love type.
“It’s fine,” the man said calmly. “Just wash it later. There are many cars here. Be careful when walking.”
Jiang Cheng felt relieved and typed again:
“Okay, thank you.”
After thanking him, Jiang Cheng felt that the city was dangerous and decided to just wait in the car.
He smiled gratefully and turned back.
That smile made his already delicate face look like a small flower blooming in snow—clean and bright.
The man’s gaze paused slightly.
At that moment, someone patted his shoulder.
It was his friend, Lu Xiyuan.
“Bro, what are you looking at?”
Lu Xiyuan followed his gaze and saw Jiang Cheng getting into the car. He whistled—but stopped when the man gave him a cold look.
“Wow, what a holy-looking girl. No wonder even a cold guy like you was staring.”
The man said coldly, “Get lost.”
He turned and walked away.
Lu Xiyuan followed him, curious.
“Is your so-called fiancée really found?”
The man sneered. “I’m not that bored.”
“But I heard her mother was a famous beauty in South City. Maybe she’s pretty too. You could at least take a look.”
“No interest.”
“Alright, alright. You ignore all the girls chasing you anyway. But don’t walk so fast—wait for me!”
…
After leaving the service area, they soon arrived in South City.
The car stopped in front of a mansion.
Jiang Cheng already knew the Chen family was rich, but still froze when he saw it.
The estate looked like a palace—majestic and grand, with pale beige and gold stone walls, curved designs, carved pillars. A mix of European classical style and modern luxury.
What a pity for the real missing granddaughter.
She had a good life waiting for her, but never got to enjoy it.
The iron gate opened automatically, and the car drove into the courtyard.
Someone was already waiting.
“Get out,” Chen Pingzhou said, patting Jiang Cheng’s shoulder for encouragement.
Jiang Cheng got out.
The first person to greet him was a noble-looking woman of similar age to Chen Pingzhou.
When she saw Jiang Cheng, she froze.
“So similar… exactly like my sister when she was young.”
“This is my wife—your aunt,” Chen Pingzhou introduced.
She already knew the situation and smiled warmly.
“Come in quickly. The old master has been asking about you.”
Jiang Cheng followed them inside.
In the living room, an old man in a wheelchair looked at him.
His cloudy eyes immediately locked onto Jiang Cheng.
“Dad, this is your sister’s daughter—Yinyin.”
The old man’s hand trembled on the wheelchair armrest.
His lips quivered.
Everyone panicked and wanted to check on him, but he raised his hand to stop them.
“Yinyin…” his voice was hoarse. “Come here. Come to grandpa.”
His body was thin and frail, his eyes deeply sunken, carrying the smell of approaching death.
Jiang Cheng hesitated slightly.
“She grew up in the countryside and hasn’t seen much of the world, so she’s a little shy.”
