Chapter 10
âRosalin!â
Aiden called out, but it was useless.
He turned his head and looked at my sister with an awkward expression.
âIâll apologize on her behalf too. I failed to properly educate my younger sister. Iâll make sure she is punished according to the student council rules.â
âOf course. As a member of the student council, I will personally attend the student council meeting.â
Come to think of it, my sister was also part of the student council.
In the romance comic, most of the times my sister encountered Aiden were in the student council room.
While I was watching the two of them talk, Aidenâs gaze turned toward me.
âYou are Olivia Vardedor, Emmaâs younger sister?â
âYou know me?â
âThereâs no way I wouldnât.â
Well, even though I was practically a ghost member, he might have heard about me from the club members.
âYou stepped forward to protect your sister. That takes quite a bit of courage.â
I wasnât exactly sure which part he liked, but it seemed like I had made a good impression on Aiden.
âThank you for thinking highly of me.â
âI would like to have a deeper conversation with you, but unfortunately, Iâm busy because of the welcome party.â
Although he was a third-year student, he was also the student council president, so it seemed like he had been assigned to prepare the freshman welcome party.
âIâll see you next time.â
âYes, letâs definitely meet again. And make sure to go to the infirmary and get your cheeks treated.â
âYes.â
âEmma, you have work to do too.â
Aiden gestured for my sister to follow him.
Before leaving, my sister gently touched both of my cheeks and said,
âDonât worry. Iâll definitely get revenge for you.â
âNo, itâs fine. I can let something like this go.â
I was actually more worried that my angry sister would end up doing something to Rosalin.
âHow can I do that? Iâll be back.â
My sister left with a determined expression and disappeared with Aiden in an instant.
Seriously, that sister complex of hers has no cure.
âBut anyway, the villain has appeared. Does this mean Liamâs event is starting in earnest?â
It was obvious that Rosalin would continue interfering with my sisterâs path in the future.
Part of me wanted to get rid of her beforehand, but there was no way I could do that right now.
Besides, she was Aidenâs younger sister, so I couldnât just do whatever I wanted.
âBut why didnât Liam appear?â
I never expected Aiden to appear instead of Liam.
And he even missed the important timing and only showed up to clean up the situation afterward.
Do none of the male leads know how to do their jobs properly?!
It felt like things kept going differently from the romance comic story I knew.
Even though things did not go as expected, I had at least met Aiden, the third male lead candidate, so it wasnât like this event gave me nothing.
After organizing my thoughts, I finally realized I was hungry.
âThen should I fill my stomach first?â
My cheeks would heal on their own even without treatment anyway.
It should be fine.
I casually searched for food and entered the banquet hall.
Eating was not the only thing that marked the end of the freshman welcome party.
It seemed the preparations that my sister and the other upperclassmen had worked hard on were finally beginning.
On one side of the banquet hall, I saw upperclassmen setting up something on the stage.
Were they preparing some kind of performance?
Even while stretching my neck from side to side out of curiosity, cake continued to enter my mouth without stopping.
âOlivia!â
At that moment, I heard a familiar voice.
âSiana!â
I put down the plate I was holding and gladly hugged Siana, who was coming toward me.
Even though we had only been apart for a short time, it felt like an emotional reunion.
âI thought I wouldnât be able to see you until the welcome party ended.â
âFortunately, I thought you would be here when I saw all the food.â
Siana had only known me for a short time, but she already understood me very well.
âAh, ah. Please pay attention.â
Thanks to a magic voice amplifier, his voice echoed throughout the entire banquet hall.
The person standing on the stage wearing a perfectly fitted green suit was someone I immediately recognized.
âGreetings. I am Aiden Carter, the host of todayâs event.â
It seemed Aiden didnât only have student council work.
At this rate, even if he had ten bodies, it would not be enough.
âEvery time I see him, I think the same thing. Isnât the student council president really handsome?â
Even from far away, his tall figure and appearance naturally attracted attention.
There was a reason he was a candidate for the third male lead.
His smooth and friendly personality was also probably one of his strengths.
Although having a villain as his younger sister was a huge disadvantage, he seemed to have a good sense of judgment himself.
And since he was such a talented person in every area, perhaps he deserved some consideration.
âAbove all, congratulations to everyone who has entered the Imperial Saint Louis Academy. As I mentioned during the entrance ceremony, you are the pride of the Grayson EmpireâŚâ
âI cannot endure that part.â
âOh no. Thatâs a deduction point.â
Siana, who had been praising Aidenâs appearance, immediately gave up on him when his greeting speech became too long.
I also firmly wrote â-1 pointâ on the brother-in-law score board inside my head.
No matter how great someone was, a speech that long was unacceptable.
Was his dream of becoming an academy principal someday?
ââŚTherefore, I hope everyone enjoys this freshman welcome party. Now, we will officially begin the freshman welcome party event!â
âWaaaaah!â
As soon as Aiden finished speaking, everyone immediately clapped enthusiastically.
Their feelings were obvious.
It was the relief of finally being free from the long speech.
âNext, we will have a speech from the freshman representative.â
The applause that had suddenly filled the hall stopped completely.
Everyoneâs disappointment was obvious, as if this was not the development they had been waiting for.
âP-Please welcome him with applause!â
Aiden, flustered, forced everyone to clap.
Unlike before, only a few people gave weak applause.
Then, with an unfriendly welcome, a nervous male student walked onto the stage.
He was so nervous that he even stumbled once while climbing the stairs.
Even from a distance, his nervous attitude was obvious.
The boy with black hair and a black formal suit received the magic voice amplifier from Aiden.
It seemed he had prepared a script, because his eyes remained fixed on the parchment in his left hand.
I could not see clearly because of the distance.
But for some reason, I felt like that hand was trembling.
However, from the moment I saw that boy, I felt strange.
He was definitely someone I had never seen before, yet somehow it felt like I had already met him.
That boy was probably the top student in our grade, meaning he should be in Class S.
Since I was in Class A, we would probably never meet unless we happened to pass by each other.
Just as I tilted my head in confusion, the boy finally opened his mouth.
âH-HelloâŚ. My name is Lucas Benjamin.â
Only then did I realize.
Until now, he had his face buried in the script, so I had not been able to properly see him.
But when he raised his head to greet everyone, I finally recognized him.
The final candidate among the male leads.
The last one.
Lucas Benjamin.
I knew he had the setting of being academically gifted, but I never imagined that the top student of our grade would actually be Lucas Benjamin.
Compared to the other male leads, Lucas was much more shy and quiet.
He always lowered his head behind his long hair and wore large glasses, so people did not know his true appearance.
Because of that, he was rejected by others and often stayed alone.
But my sister was the only one who saw the real him.
And she treated him no differently from anyone else.
That was why Lucas fell in love with my sister at first sight.
The students did not listen to Lucasâs speech.
Instead, they whispered among themselves and chatted.
The more it happened, the more Lucas stuttered and became visibly flustered.
I wanted to help him.
But I couldnât exactly shout loudly and tell everyone to listen to Lucas.
In the end, the only thing I could do was listen to his speech carefully.
ââŚThat is allâŚ.â
After barely finishing his speech, Lucas quickly left the stage as if he wanted to escape.
Seeing him like that made my heart ache, and I wanted to go comfort him.
But since we did not know each other yet, approaching him now would probably only make him feel uncomfortable.
Instead, I clapped as hard as I could until my hands hurt.
âThen please enjoy the freshman welcome party!â
