Chapter 5
“Teacher, the class is over!”
As if taking revenge for making her take over the lesson, Noah raised his hand like a blade and hit the back of the sleeping teacher’s head.
“Uh, huh? Dismissed.”
The teacher, still wandering around in dreamland, waved his hand as if he was annoyed.
He did not seem to care that Noah had hit his head.
“Can someone like that really not get fired even though he sleeps during class?”
“I heard that once an academy teacher is appointed, they cannot be fired unless they commit a serious offense.”
What a nice job.
While I was wondering if I should make my future dream to become an academy teacher, Noah left the podium while receiving cheers from everyone and walked out of the classroom first.
Just by allowing them to use magic, he had already become a huge star among the students in our class.
“Siana, sorry, but I’ll go ahead first.”
“Where are you going?”
“I have something important to do for a moment. I’ll meet you back in the classroom.”
“Olivia!”
Before Siana could stop me, I bowed my head and quietly left the classroom.
I did not know the way around the second-year building, but it was fine.
I was only planning to follow Noah.
“I need to find out what kind of relationship he has with my sister.”
Only then could I decide whether to put him on the list of potential second brothers-in-law or remove him.
Noah hummed as he walked through the second-year building.
I followed him while keeping a certain distance.
Perhaps because being ordinary was my greatest characteristic, my ability to hide my presence and follow someone was quite good.
I was feeling quite satisfied with my stealth skills when, after turning around a corner, Noah suddenly disappeared from my sight.
“Huh?”
I turned my head left and right, searching for Noah.
That was when—
“Do you have some business with Noah?”
“Eek!”
A hand suddenly grabbed my shoulder from behind, and I reflexively jumped in surprise.
When I turned around, Noah was looking at me from a much closer distance than I expected.
His smiling face was somehow terrifying.
“N-Noah senior. You were there.”
“Hm? You were following me from the elemental magic classroom.”
“How did you know?”
“Hm? How could I not know?”
“Besides, weren’t you right in front of me until just now?”
“There’s a passage here that connects to this side if you turn around that corner!”
Noah cheerfully explained, and I scratched the back of my head.
So he had known from the beginning that I was following him.
As expected, a talented mage was different.
No matter how good my stealth skills were, it seemed impossible to fool him.
“Besides, you’re walking around the second-year building in a first-year uniform while acting suspiciously. You stand out too much.”
“Huh?”
Only then did I look down at my clothes.
Now that I thought about it, Saint Louis Academy had different buildings and uniforms for each grade.
I had stupidly overlooked that fact.
The truth was, I had not gone unnoticed by everyone.
I was just so obviously suspicious that nobody bothered to approach me.
Only now did I hear the whispers around me.
“I made such a mistake…”
“That’s not called a mistake. That’s called being foolish.”
It seemed Noah enjoyed hitting people with the truth.
The pain was so sharp that my chest hurt for a moment from the shock.
“But why did you follow Noah?”
“That’s…”
Because I wanted to know if you were really suitable as my second brother-in-law candidate.
…Of course, I could not say that.
While I was thinking about how to answer while hiding my identity, Noah kindly spoke first.
“Don’t tell me you fell in love with Noah at first sight?”
“That is absolutely not true!”
Unfortunately, there was no way I would fall for my second brother-in-law candidate either.
When I strongly denied it, Noah looked disappointed.
“Tsk, if that’s not it, then why did you follow Noah?”
“Because I wanted to receive advanced lessons!”
I answered with the first thing that came to my mind.
It was an excuse I had thought of in an instant, but it actually sounded very convincing.
As expected, my quick thinking was amazing.
Feeling proud of myself, I continued explaining.
“Thanks to you, I was able to use magic for the first time. So I want to become better at magic before the other students. If you have time, could you teach me a little more?”
Perhaps my passionate answer moved Noah.
Instead of being uncomfortable, he smiled brightly.
“A student who personally asks for extra lessons? How admirable! Noah doesn’t dislike students like that.”
“Then…!”
“But there is a condition.”
Noah raised his index finger from within his long sleeve.
“What is it?”
“Become Noah’s friend!”
“You’re my senior, though?”
“I may be a second-year, but Noah is sixteen years old!”
Of course, I already knew that from the manga.
Noah, who was extremely intelligent, entered the academy early and even skipped a grade, becoming a second-year student at the age of sixteen.
He was my senior, but he was younger than me.
“You’re sixteen?”
I covered my mouth and pretended to be surprised as if I was hearing it for the first time.
“Yes. Also, you’re Emma’s younger sister, right? Emma is Noah’s friend, so you’re basically Noah’s friend too.”
Noah was my sister Emma’s friend too?
“Didn’t you say earlier that you didn’t know her well?”
“I said I didn’t know her that well. Do friends have to know every little thing about each other?”
That was true.
“If you’re taking care of even me, her younger sister, then Emma must be a special… friend to you, right?”
I asked casually, trying to find out Noah’s true feelings.
“Yes, Emma is a special friend.”
I had clearly asked with that meaning in mind, and Noah gave me a straightforward answer.
As expected!
Noah also secretly liked my sister.
“So you want to become friends with me because of that?”
“Hmm, because you look interesting.”
“I see. As expected.”
It was obvious that he meant I looked interesting because I was Emma’s younger sister.
If he wanted to be friends with me just because I was her younger sister, then it meant he had quite a lot of affection for my sister, right?
I thought I needed to investigate their relationship more.
To keep watching Noah in the future, becoming friends with him was not a bad choice.
“Okay. I also want to become Noah’s friend.”
“Really? Then from now on, you can call me Noah and speak comfortably!”
“Okay, Noah.”
Technically speaking, I was one year older than him, but who cared?
As long as I could become close to Noah, I could even call him older brother if needed.
Since Noah’s hands were hidden so deeply inside his clothes, I grabbed the edge of his sleeve and shook it up and down.
“Then you’ll give me advanced lessons, right?”
I said it like a joke, but deep down, I really wanted to receive advanced lessons from him.
It was also a chance to spend time with Noah, and I wanted to use magic more after having finally succeeded once.
“Of course. When you have time, come find Noah in the second-year S class.”
I had only briefly looked through the rules, but I remembered seeing that using communication magic inside the academy was forbidden.
So meeting through messages would be difficult, and this seemed to be the method he chose instead.
“Are you busy, Noah? What if I come and you’re not there?”
“Noah has placed a magic notification spell on his seat in S class. If you just go there, Noah will automatically know, so don’t worry and wait there.”
“Wasn’t magic only allowed in designated places or classrooms?”
“Who actually follows every single school rule?”
Strange.
I was sure Noah had just told us to follow the rules earlier.
Well, considering Noah’s skill level, he probably could break through even the academy’s entire alarm magic system.
Even if he got caught, it seemed like the teachers would probably forgive him because they treated him specially.
After all, he was practically replacing academy teachers.
That explained everything.
“Then I’ll definitely come when I have time, Noah.”
“Okay, see you later, Emma’s younger sister.”
“My name is Olivia Vardedor.”
Now that I thought about it, we had become friends without even introducing ourselves properly.
“I’m Noah Logan. Nice to meet you!”
After cheerfully greeting me, Noah headed toward his classroom first.
I had discovered that Noah considered my sister special, so my trip was not completely useless.
Besides, at least Noah did not call me some strange nickname like “Kongkong.”
Just that alone raised him to a decent candidate as “Second Brother-in-law Candidate.”
“He has magic skills, a good personality, and a bright future…”
His conditions were not bad, just like Liam.
However, one thing bothered me.
His deep affection for my sister did not seem to show on the outside.
“I’ll have to watch him a little longer.”
There was still plenty of time, so slowly getting to know Noah did not seem like a bad idea.
It was still too early to decide my future brother-in-law.
I had not even met all the candidates yet.
I turned around and walked back the way I came.
I wanted to use the stealth skill I had used earlier, but unfortunately, just as Noah said, my uniform stood out too much.
I had no choice but to receive the attention of all the second-year students as I walked.
The only thing I could do was pretend not to be embarrassed and return to my classroom on time without getting lost.
