Episode 4 –
Selfishness
(Bookmark)
The girls who don’t know Ryuga’s true nature squealed,
“Kyaa! Ryuga just smiled at me! Such god-tier service!”
“He’s sooo sexy!”
“He’s got such a grown-up charm!”
“I wanna make him my boyfriend!”
They were all in a frenzy.
Then came the inevitable:
“Can we talk to you again sometime?”
“Please give us your autograph next time!”
With a dazzling smile and a sexy aura swirling around him, Ryuga answered with a casual, “See you,” and sent the girls off with a refreshing smile.
Even as the girls kept looking back at him over and over, waving and squealing as they walked away, I tried nudging him.
“Here’s your chance. Go invite them to that dessert shop by the station. You can still make it.”
But Ryuga was stubborn as ever: “No.” That was the only answer.
“Why not? Even if it’s not those girls, anyone would be thrilled to go with you — the normal Ryuga.”
“I want to go with Risa-chan. I want to go with you.”
“Hey, seriously…!”
Even when I tried to shake him off, he said,
“I want to go with the Risa-chan who knows all my pathetic sides too.”
When he said that, my strong resolve to say no just wavered.
Because I, too, had a time in my life when people judged me by my looks or the way I spoke, when everyone relied on me and it was painful not being able to show my true self.
So I can painfully understand Ryuga’s struggles.
Especially since Ryuga is still an active idol — it must be really exhausting for him.
But even so…
“Risa-chan, say ‘aah’ for me.”
Before I knew it, I was sitting across from a delighted Ryuga at the dessert shop by the station. I surprised even myself.
Lately, I’m terrified of the things I’ve been doing that I don’t even understand.
