~Chapter 27~
…Is this girl seriously trying to pick a fight with me right now?
 What exactly is she thinking?
My anger was boiling inside, but I reminded myself that Cedricâs coronation was tomorrow.
In situations like this, shouldnât a noble lady show grace and patience?
I took a deep breath.
âGet out.â
â…Huh?â
Forget being noble.
Since when have I ever acted like a proper lady?
âI donât know what made you think it was okay to just show up at our house, but youâre seriously annoyingâso get out.â
âW-why are you acting like this, sister?â
Bonicaâs face turned paleâshe clearly didnât expect me to say something so direct.
âWhy? You really donât know?â
I looked at the maid who was cleaning up the broken doll pieces.
âYou heard everything too, right?â
âY-yes, Miss!â
You think Iâm just going to stay quiet?
âI was just worried about you!â
âYeah. And that worry is driving me crazyâso get out.â
Suddenly, Atticus, the butler, came rushing downstairs after hearing the noise.
âMiss, whatâs going on?â
âOh, Atticus. Perfect timing.â
I grabbed Baileyâs wrist and walked toward him.
âCut off her hand.â
âW-what?! Sister?!â
Bailey stared at me in shock, her voice shaking.
âIsnât that the rule? If someone steals from a noble house, their hand gets cut off.â
âI-Iâm sorry! The necklace was just so prettyâI was going to ask if I could have it!â
âCut it off.â
At my cold command, Atticusâ eyes widened. He silently stared at her wrist.
Bailey completely panicked.
âI-Iâm sorry! Iâll never do it again, I promise!â
Tears welled up in her eyes. I paused, then gave a light shrug.
âOf course Iâm joking.â
âTh-then why take it that far?!â
âI was just worried about your sticky fingers. Thatâs all?â
I blinked innocently as if Iâd done nothing wrong. Bailey started hiccuping.
See? Thatâs what happens when you mess with people who are minding their business.
***
Of course, I wasnât really joking.
I did want them out of the house.
But unfortunately, it seemed like they planned to stay until the coronation.
âThey move fast.â
Even though there was still time before the ceremony began, Bailey was already seated in the hall, looking pleased with herself.
Watching her made me remember everything from yesterday. I got irritated and stormed out of the hall.
Might as well go check on Grandfather.
Since this was Cedricâs coronation, even I, as family, had to wear a formal family dress.
It was heavyâalmost as heavy as a full ball gown.
The dress was black, making it hot, and the gold-embroidered epaulettes on the shoulders were so heavy, I felt like my back might bend.
Whoâs the one getting crowned, really?
As I walked, lightly kicking the hem of my heavy dress, I suddenly heard a voice.
âYou wanted to live as a dog of the Empire? Then youâll meet the end of a hunting dog.â
It was Elizabethâs voice, cold and sharp.
Sensing something was wrong, I quickly hid behind the wall to listen.
âEverything the Roygin family builtâthe honor, the nameâit will all collapse because of you. In the end, all of us will meet death.â
Then I heard a calm voice answer her.
âYou and our brother are the ones who cursed us with the fate of hunting dogs.â
âŚGrandfather?
âFate of a hunting dogâ? That didnât suit someone like himâa hero of the war.
As I was trying to make sense of it, Elizabeth suddenly screamed.
âYou shouldâve died on the battlefieldâŚ!â
ââŚâ
âYou shouldâve stopped the Empireâs plan with your death! At least, if you remembered you had Roygin bloodâŚ!â
Her words felt like hands wrapping around my neck, choking me.
That my grandfather shouldâve died in warâŚ?
What kind of logic was that?
My fists shook with rageâbut then a thought struck me.
The Empireâs plan.
After the war, if something about Roygin changed because of the Empire⌠then it had to be the Dremokan Forest.
They had pushed that cursed forest onto our family.
My heart started pounding.
What if Grandfatherâs illnessâand the deaths of all his childrenâwere because of the forest?
âYou and Harnen knew everything about Dremokan⌠and still ended the war. This tragedy is your fault!â
Just then, I heard the sound of Grandfather standing up.
I quickly walked away before he noticed I was eavesdropping.
Dremokan Forest and the Magic War.
Maybe Grandfather knows more than anyone else in the world.
Maybe he even knows the secret behind it.
For the first time, the world I lived in felt a little bit scary.
I clenched the key in my pocket tightly.
***
Time passed, and nobles began arriving one by one for the coronation.
âWhy are so many people here? Thereâs nothing interesting about that Cedric kid,â Leon grumbled beside me as he leaned against the wall.
âBut you came tooâŚâ
Seeing someone familiar like Leon helped calm my nerves a little.
âIâm here to see him tremble with nerves.â
âDo you really think my brother would do that?â
Leon smirked.
âBianca, you donât know him like I do. That guy gets super nervous all the time.â
âIâve literally never heard that before.â
He laughed again, but then looked around like he was searching for someone.
âHey, where is he?â
âWho?â
âYou donât mean Cedric, right?â
Leon nodded. I blinked.
âHeâs probably with the Holy Emperor.â
âWhy?â
âUm⌠because heâs the main person today?â
âSo what? Just because heâs a marquis?â
Leon looked thoroughly unimpressed.
âOh right,â he added suddenly, leaning close to whisper,
âAbout the hunting competitionâitâs all sorted out.â
âReally?â
âYeah.â
He folded his arms and sighed deeply.
âSo⌠what about the mine? What did the Duke want?â
âOh, thatâŚâ
 Leon shrugged.
âHe took the Hurigon mine. I mean, it makes sense. That place still has mana stones.â
âŚSo he didnât want Seren Mine after all?
Maybe Ricardo didnât know about the Kaen mineral from the original story.
Still, something about it didnât sit right with me.
***
The Coronation Hall was grand and solemn.
Even though it was full of people, the atmosphere was tense and quiet.
Elizabeth, who had been yelling at Grandfather earlier, now looked calm and composedâas if nothing had happened.
I was getting bored, so I started glancing around at the people nearby.
Thatâs when someone caught my eyeâ
The former Duke of House Hessen, Harnen.
âDid Ricardo come too?â
But I couldnât see him anywhere.
Harnen smiled kindlyâhe looked a lot like Ricardo.
He was Ricardoâs grandfather and had survived the magic war alongside my grandfather.
Then the ceremony began. The Emperorâs voice rang through the hall.
âIn the Empireâs darkest times, the Roygin family stood beside the throne and helped us through the shadows.â
Cedric knelt before the Emperor. I felt proud, like a parent watching their child.
He was barely mentioned in the original storyâso seeing him like this was strange, but satisfying.
This might be the most rewarding moment since I ended up in this world.
I smiled with pride.
The Emperorâs speech dragged on, but I didnât mindâit was bearable as long as Cedric was in front of me.
Why didnât this world have cameras? Even with magic?
Then the Emperor handed Cedric a sword.
Cedric usually hated swords, but he received it solemnly, hiding his thoughts.
âI pledge loyalty to the Holy Emperor and His Majesty the Emperor. With the honor of House Roygin, I vow to give everything for the Empire and the divine.â
âMay the blessing of God be upon the House of Roygin.â
The Holy Emperor kissed Cedricâs forehead to finish the coronation.
Wow. What a touching day.
I clapped as loud as I could, deciding I would be the loudest applauder in the whole hall.
But then I noticed the man beside me staring.
Was I clapping too loudly?
I tried to quiet downâbut he kept staring.
Seriously? Canât even clap freely on a happy day?
Annoyed, I turned to ask him what his problem was.
He caught my eye and spoke in a playful voice.
âYouâre the one who sent my sister to the convent, right?â
ââŚSorry, what?â
Who even is your sister?
While I blinked in confusion, the man continued,
âAnd the beloved granddaughter of the Marquisâthatâs you, too.â
He was very handsomeâdimples, bright golden hair, pale silver eyes.
No way this guy was just a side character.
I studied his face carefully.
This is bad.
This was the real male lead of the original novelâ
Erkessian.
He smiled brightly and tilted his head.
âSo, are you satisfied with the punishment my sister received?â
âŚWait.
 Heâs talking about his sisterâŚ
He means Hestia, doesnât he?
Oh Iâm so glad she threatened her like that đ ah I wish she had dragged it on longer – traumatizing her đ
Also I wish they would explain the significance of the key, she says it reminds her that sheâs not from this world, but whatâs the story behind it đ¤
Agreed! I wanna know about the key!
LMAO SHE’S IN A CONVENT NOW? deserved.
Wait…there was a camera in an earlier chapter? They were followed by a reporter with a camera who took a picture of them fighting and printed it in the newspaper?
oh so princess really is his sister right? but that obsession to him isnt healthy
Just desserts
Seriously youâre mad she got sent to a convent? You sister almost killed two people out of petty jealousy.
