Chapter 10
Such a Fine Tan Shen, Yet Unfortunately He Has a Mouth (2/2)
Xie Yurao: â? Who gave you permission to call me by my fullâmmph.â
The man’s warm palm covered her mouth as he continued calmly, âYou should know what this ceremony means to you. Xie Jingchuan hasn’t even made a move yet, and you’ve already injured yourself because of him.â
Tan Shen had always been steady and composed, a man who planned several steps ahead.
He was accustomed to being cold and ruthless, never someone who would do something foolish out of softness or sentiment.
Tan Shen thought that her actions today had simply been too stupid, which was why he was so angry.
With a mocking snort, he said, âIf Xie Jingchuan found out, he’d probably be delighted enough to send him some money as a thank-you for his friendly assistance.â
â…â
This man’s tongue was truly vicious.
Muffled by his hand, Xie Yurao made protesting sounds, trying to speak.
Tan Shen figured she had probably taken his words to heart, so he finally let go.
âPtooey, ptooey, ptooey.â Xie Yurao angrily wiped her mouth several times before accusing him in both outrage and disgust, âYou actually used the same hand that touched my foot to cover my mouth!!â
Tan Shen: â…â
Was that really the main point?
Helplessly, he said, âIt’s your own foot, not someone else’s. Do you even find yourself disgusting?â
Xie Yurao nodded emphatically. âYes!â
Tan Shen: â…â
Still, after wiping her mouth in disgust, Xie Yurao had in fact listened to what he said.
Looking at him, she complained, âIf you knew how to dance ballroom, I wouldn’t have had to look for someone else.â
At her words, the man’s cold lashes paused briefly.
Then he replied indifferently, with a hint of self-mockery, âI’m just a rough guy. How would I know anything about those rich people’s games?â
For some reason, his words carried an indescribable feeling when they reached Xie Yurao’s ears.
Before she could think further about it, Qin Yun called.
When Qin Yun heard that Xie Yurao had sprained her ankle, she was furious, anxious, and heartbroken all at once.
âLuckily it’s nothing serious. Rest properly for the next few days. You can resume practicing after you’ve fully recovered.â
Holding her phone, Xie Yurao became unusually obedient whenever she was talking to Qin Yun.
âOkay~â
Then Qin Yun said, âPut Tan Shen on the phone.â
Xie Yurao froze for a moment before immediately saying, âMommy, today’s incident wasn’t his fault.â
Even though that dog of a man had a terrible attitude today, Xie Yurao still instinctively didn’t want him to be punished.
On the other end, Qin Yun chuckled.
âI know. I’m not calling to scold him.â
Tan Shen took the phone.
As she drank her nourishing soup, Xie Yurao watched him.
His expression remained unchanged the entire time. He agreed to several things before eventually handing the phone back to her.
After the call ended, she asked, âDid she scold you?â
âNo. She told me to take you to Ancheng to get your dance shoes custom-made while you’re resting.â
Ancheng was home to the finest custom dance-shoe makers in the country. Nothing for the ceremony could be handled carelessly.
Qin Yun had already arranged an appointment with a private studio there, but Xie Yurao needed to go in person so they could make shoes perfectly suited to her measurements.
âRest tomorrow. I’ll take you there the day after.â
âOh.â
Surprisingly obedient for once.
This time, before she even asked, Tan Shen bent down and carried her upstairs.
Perhaps because she was injured, the young lady wasn’t nearly as arrogant and overbearing as usual. She seemed much softer than before.
She raised her arm and showed him the pale pink inside of her elbow.
âI hit this spot today too. The skin broke. Did you see it?â
Tan Shen climbed the stairs with steady steps. Hearing her question, he lowered his eyes to look.
On her fair, delicate arm was indeed a tiny scrape, probably from when she fell. There was barely even a trace of blood.
âI saw it.â
Tan Shen replied flatly, âGood thing you showed it to me in time.â
Xie Yurao looked puzzled. âHm?â
Then a trace of lazy amusement entered his deep voice.
âIf you’d shown me any later, the wound probably would’ve healed already.â
Xie Yurao: â…â
