Chapter 11
Suisui
Lin Suianās fever had made him delirious. His face looked pale and weak, his smooth skin completely drained of color, leaving only a sickly fragility behind. Even his lips had little color left.
His eyes were tightly shut, yet tears still hung helplessly at the corners.
Just as Shi Yushen walked closer, he heard Lin Suian mumbling the same sentence over and over.
Lin Suianās throat was already hoarse, his voice carrying a trembling sob.
āGodfather, Iāll be obedient⦠please donāt send Suisui awayā¦ā
He could no longer tell whether he was dreaming or awake. His eyes were clouded and unfocused as he grabbed the edge of Shi Yushenās clothes, crying miserably while choking out every word.
Shi Yushen listened to his sleep-talking, but only let out a cold laugh and frowned impatiently.
What a stupid little fool.
Even after being sold by someone, he could still help count money for them.
āLet go. Iām not your godfather. Youāre calling the wrong person.ā
Shi Yushen tried to shake his hand away, but Lin Suian only held tighter. The burning heat from his body spread over him, hot enough to make the skin tingle.
Lin Suian stubbornly continued calling for Qin You, mumbling things Shi Yushen did not want to hear.
Shi Yushen finally lost patience and slapped him hard enough to wake him.
āOpen your eyes and look carefully.ā
āWho exactly am I?ā
Shi Yushen gripped his jaw tightly, forcing him to look directly at him.
Mist-like tears blurred Lin Suianās eyes. A few seconds later, his vision slowly focused.
The moment he recognized that face, his pupils shrank sharply, and his breathing turned nervous.
āSuisui?ā
Shi Yushen bent down closer to his face, like a beast sniffing its prey before hunting. The pressure from him was overwhelming.
Lin Suian shrank back slightly. A cool yet warm scent rushed toward him, making the hairs on his body stand up.
Why was Shi Yushen suddenly calling him that?
Had he done something wrong again?
āYou like it when people call you that?ā
When he was young, a blind fortune-teller once said his life would be full of suffering and hardship.
That was why his grandmother gave him the name Suian ā meaning peace and safety every year.
As for āSuisui,ā it was his childhood nickname.
Only people close to him called him that.
Looking into Shi Yushenās eyes, where the smile never reached the bottom, Lin Suian suddenly felt uneasy.
āI donāt like it.ā
Shi Yushen instantly saw through his lie.
āIf you donāt like it, then why were you mumbling it in your dream just now?ā
Hearing those words, Lin Suianās eyes slowly dimmed.
āSuisuiā¦ā
