Pei Nian’an took a deep breath and said:

“Yu Zhi, tell me why. Why does Brother Chengnian always protect that bitch? I’m the one who’s engaged to him! How dare Wen Ying steal him from me? I’ll never let her get away with it!”

She grabbed Yu Zhi’s hand desperately.

“Yu Zhi! You have to help me!”

Among the group, the man in the center stood out—tall, elegant, and breathtakingly handsome.

Yu Zhi’s eyes widened in shock.

Her first thought: That’s the super handsome model guy!
Her second: Wait, that’s Pei Nian’an’s brother!

Inside the elevator, the assistant held the door and gestured politely. Pei Yanci walked out, indifferent and imposing.

Then Yu Zhi suddenly remembered the conversation from earlier—

Pei, hotel, tonight, “beg to sleep”…

Everything clicked in her mind.

Just as Pei Yanci was about to step past her, Yu Zhi made a snap decision—

She didn’t enter the elevator. Instead, she stepped back and raised a hand to block his way.

Then she glanced toward the couple at the front desk—who were now walking toward them.

She held up her phone for him to see.

Pei Yanci’s assistant stepped forward instinctively, but Pei Yanci lifted a hand to stop him.

He narrowed his eyes, read the message, and glanced toward the couple briefly before turning back to Yu Zhi.

Yu Zhi smiled, pocketed her phone, and blinked meaningfully.

You got it, right? Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

As the couple approached, Yu Zhi quickly slipped into the elevator.

She’d done her good deed for the day—whatever happened next wasn’t her problem.

Watching the elevator doors close, Assistant Xu Fei turned to Pei Yanci.

“President Pei, do you know that young lady?”

Pei Yanci shook his head.

He’d met plenty of women trying to get his attention with their looks.

When this one pulled out her phone, he’d assumed it was another trick—
but it turned out to be a genuine warning.

His eyes flicked to the approaching couple. He gave Xu Fei a look.

Xu Fei understood immediately.

Meanwhile, in the underground parking lot—

Yu Zhi handed Pei Nian’an the room key, then, exhausted, hailed a taxi home.

To keep herself awake in the car, she chatted mentally with the system.

“Hey, System,” she asked, “what did you mean earlier when you said I’d regret it?”

The system sighed deeply.
