Prologue
Seol-ah wrapped her arms tightly around Moon-hyuk.
It was a sexual encounter in which they had both completely lost their reason and sense of self, rushing forward like a train whose brakes had broken.
Rough breaths poured hotly over Seol-ah’s neck.
Amid the heavy heat hanging in the air, Seol-ah also breathed weakly, almost gasping for breath. Then her eyelids slowly closed.
Tears had already gathered at the corners of her eyes.
Her heart, which had been pounding violently as if it would burst, gradually began to slow. Her rough, heated breathing also started to return to normal.
As if marking her, Moon-hyuk lightly bit the back of Seol-ah’s neck. Then he raised himself from her.
The rustling sound of clothes brushing against each other filled the room. Cold air settled over the body he had left behind.
Seol-ah slowly opened her eyes.
She could see her top rolled high up, exposing her breasts in a provocative way. She could see the skin that had been sucked and bitten mercilessly, as well as her thighs lying loosely apart. And at the end of it all was Moon-hyuk, calmly straightening his clothes.
Seol-ah closed her eyes.
She did not regret it. But…
It felt as though everything had burned away completely, leaving behind nothing but pale ashes. Ashes that could scatter and disappear so easily with even the slightest breeze.
Seol-ah finally wiped away the tear running down her temple with her palm and slowly sat up.
Her lower back throbbed with pain.
She bit down hard on her swollen, bruised lips and put her underwear back on.
Even the soft fabric brushing against her made the tips of her breasts ache, and she could still feel as though he were there.
She fastened her top and skirt neatly as well. But her fingertips trembled as she cleaned herself up.
Moon-hyuk silently watched her.
Only after Seol-ah had finished everything did Moon-hyuk pick up his tie from where it had fallen and put it around his neck.
“Get in the car and go home first. I’ll come home early today.”
To Seol-ah, his words sounded like, Where do you think you’re going?
Seol-ah answered.
“No. I’m not going back.”
“…What?”
“Should we settle this by mutual agreement? Or should we go to court?”
Seol-ah asked calmly, her eyes firm and determined.
Moon-hyuk’s hand, which had been about to tie his tie, stopped.
A crack appeared in his previously expressionless face.
His brows immediately drew together. Then one corner of his lips slowly lifted.
“…Ha!”
A breath escaped between his sensual lips, as if he found the situation absurd and utterly empty.
Moon-hyuk, who was always composed and never lost his calm no matter what happened, had his face horribly twisted.
But soon, his gaze shifted toward empty space. Then, as if speaking to himself, he quietly murmured,
“A lawsuit…”
It was an utterly ridiculous thing to say.
No, it was something he had never even imagined in his dreams.
If his wife had cursed at him instead, perhaps it would not have been this absurd.
Moon-hyuk’s eyes slowly lowered back to Seol-ah.
“So you want to divorce me so badly that you’re willing to go that far?”
Seol-ah realized it.
This was the last chance Moon-hyuk was giving her.
Even so, there was only one answer.
“…Yes.”
Looking directly at Moon-hyuk, Seol-ah answered.
