“Fairy?”
John furrowed his eyebrows faintly.
“Hasn’t the fairy already disappeared?”
“No, it hasn’t gone extinct.”
The demon answered with a chuckle.
“If that were true, the world wouldn’t be like this now.”
“What do you mean by that?”
John’s once calm red eyes flashed.
“Oh, never mind.”
The demon expressed doubt at John’s reaction.
“Is it okay not to ask more about the fairy? It must be really hard to find out about them.”
“What would be the point of asking about something even the mightiest demon can’t handle?”
“A being I can’t handle? What nonsense is that?”
“It seems like you want to make it a sacrifice in some way. That means it’s a very significant and important being to a demon, doesn’t it?”
John gently prodded the demon’s nerves.
“Perhaps it even means it’s a being greater than a demon.”
“Don’t be ridiculous! Who says that?”
Sharp teeth appeared in the demon’s torn mouth as it grinned fiercely.
“To compare something just a fairy to a demon, just because it has a good bloodline and is suitable as a sacrifice.”
“Having a good bloodline than a demon is a skill too.”
“At most, only one remains! Who are you to compare yourself to a worthless wretch that can’t even properly use that noble bloodline and is crawling in shame?”
“If you use it well, even a demon can be surpassed.”
“I have existed since the beginning. If we compare with nobility, no one can stand beside me.”
In its excitement, the demon’s form twisted wildly.
“Such a mere fairy—!”
The demon, revealing fierce intent, suddenly closed its mouth. It looked at John and let out a hollow laugh.
“So, you’re trying to get information from me for free like this?”
“There’s no reason to refuse when you offer it without any cost.”
John shrugged casually. The demon, caught in John’s little game, bitterly clenched its teeth.
“John, aren’t you afraid of demons?”
The demon extended its clawed hand as if to tear John apart.
“You already sacrificed your happiness to Libertan to take revenge. You’re not going to get a happy future. Aren’t you afraid of the misfortune that could come at any moment?”
“Then there’s no need to fear anymore.”
John gave a mocking, forced laugh despite the demon’s threats.
“Anyway, if it’s predetermined misfortune, it doesn’t matter what I do.”
“That’s typical of you.”
The demon’s purple eyes glinted with interest as it examined John. Even after living for ages, John was a truly fascinating being.
Someone who was proud even without possessing anything.
Someone who, despite being just an ordinary human, could negotiate on equal footing with a demon—who are overwhelming just by their presence—and even pawn the most important thing to humans: ‘happiness.’
“But be careful. If you’re trying to get something out of a demon contract, you have to worry about how much you can afford to lose.”
“Demons are quite considerate. They even worry about a human’s future.”
“How conceited. I can teach you a way to offer a fairy as a sacrifice, if you’d like.”
“Do demons get hearing problems when they age?”
John was well aware of the trap the demon was setting.
‘Usually, the most convenient path is the worst choice.’
The nature of demons is grotesque. Even if offering a fairy as a sacrifice seems easiest, there are probably many hidden motives behind it.
‘Especially since I don’t really know what a fairy is.’
Trading on ignorance is just asking for destruction. It’s wiser to avoid the easiest way and choose another method whenever possible.
“I’m not interested in things like fairies. Tell me about other ways.”
“Fine, if that’s what you want.”
The demon’s eyes narrowed briefly. An ominous, wicked aura swirled threateningly in its purple pupils.
“The divine of the Holy Land, the Heart of Athena.”
The greatest treasure that made the Holy Land exist.
“And gather all twelve sacred relics that are the pride of the Holy Land and offer them on my altar. If you do, I’ll tell you about your wife’s curse.”

Upon arriving at the mansion, the Black Panther Mawu ran up, wagging its tail.
“Choco!”
It had star patterns on its forehead, and I was about to call it “Star,” but I hesitated because it was somewhat similar to my name. I decided to give it my favorite dessert instead.
Choco stopped immediately in front of me, as trained, and waited for my touch.
“Good job, Blackie. Oh, you’re so cute.”
“Growl.”
“You missed me a lot, huh? I missed Choco too.”
Choco rubbed its forehead against my hand, then flopped down and started to enjoy the petting.
Strangely, Choco, knowing it was big and strong, moved carefully so as not to hurt me.
Even as a fierce black panther, its terrifying sound gradually turned into something adorable.
“Growl.”
Choco flicked its tail on the ground and pricked up its ears as if asking for more petting. It was begging for affection.
“Good, good. Did you listen well to the others?”
“Growl!”
“Yes, you listened well.”
Betty appeared behind Choco like a ghost and glared at him with an annoyed look.
“No, Lady. You don’t know how much trouble Choco causes.”
“Really? Blackie, did you cause trouble?”
He’s usually such a good boy.
Choco then widened his eyes as if he couldn’t believe such an absurd accusation. Betty complained irritably.
“Lady, don’t be fooled! That Mawu thinks the entire garden is its territory, not just its own area, and has been threatening other servants so they can’t come in.”
“Is that true?”
“Meowi…”
Choco looked around, then tapped the ground with his paw.
‘Blackie, your paws are so big, I can see the ground cracking.’
It seems he hasn’t yet learned how to control his strength.
“Choco, were you such a bad Mawu?”
“Meowi.”
“Trying to bite people and threaten them?”
“Meowi…”
Choco, lying flat, rolled his eyes and made a circular motion. The surrounding servants chuckled, apparently amused.
‘Well, even if he’s this well-behaved now, he’s still a Mawu…’
“No, people are just misunderstanding Choco, right? He’s such a good Mawu. Right?”
“Growl.”
Choco perked his ears and nodded. He’s smart enough to understand what I said.
“Betty, where exactly is the garden that Choco was guarding?”
“I’ll show you right away.”
As I followed Betty, Choco quickly regained energy, rubbing his body against my feet and happily trotting along. Maybe he enjoyed walking with me after a long time; his tail wagged wildly.
‘He wasn’t like this when I first saw him.’
Come to think of it, after returning from the honeymoon, I was so busy I didn’t get to look around the garden properly.
‘It’s supposed to be a fairy garden.’
—Today, are you coming to the garden?
The trees suddenly spoke at the right moment.
-Yes. I want to be with the trees again after a long time.
-Oh, there’s no need to worry so much, busy little thing.
-Yeah. We’re satisfied just getting fertilized. We’re just trees; the gardener will take care of us.
-We know how important it is for humans to debut properly. We just go see the trees in the garden when we feel like it.
Their tone sounded obviously annoyed.
-Do you really think that’s okay?
-Of course. We’re not upset at all. Seeing you happily spending time with others makes us so happy. Why would we need to talk to you?
The voices of the trees grew brighter.
-Yeah, yeah. If you’re not careful, you might be treated as a crazy person talking to trees. Use us only when you need us.
-Exactly. If we make enough rings, we should be chopped down and turned into something. How proud are we to survive so long? Too long — that’s a sin.
Sometimes I wonder where the trees learned such words.
-Sorry.
I walked toward the garden and sincerely said:
-I haven’t had time to visit you, trees. But I haven’t forgotten you. I love you so much.
The trees awkwardly coughed at my honest words.
-Sigh, old trees being so childish and giving me the cold shoulder! Do they think we’re just like that busy little thing that only stands all day? Everyone should behave reasonably!
-Yeah, we’re sorry. It’s because we envied the trees in the Kelsis Mountains who live drinking the underground spring.
-We, who get plenty of water, fertilizer, and sunlight, were greedy. Oh well.
-Okay, I’ll ask if I can find some spring water.
-We’re perfectly fine with just holy water or something like that!
Suddenly, Choco arrived at the garden, apparently throwing a fit because it was his territory.
“My Eden Rose is blooming here, isn’t it?”
In front of the garden, Patricia and Erich were waiting.
“Why are you both here?”
“Oh, Lady.”
Patricia spoke expressionlessly.
“We were planning to prepare to cut the Eden Rose for your debut, Lady, but Lord Blonnu keeps disagreeing.”
“Lady, I think we shouldn’t keep cutting the Eden Rose just as Lady Gilete suggests. It’s the same Eden Rose that just came back!”
It seems there’s some conflict over my debut.
‘All the issues are gathering in the Eden Rose garden.’
I tilted my head and looked at Choco. He subtly rolled his eyes and plopped himself on the ground.
“First, I’ll check the Eden Rose. Do you have anything more to say?”
“I’m talking about the Saintess.”
Patricia, who was always expressionless, frowned for the first time in a while.
“It seems the Saintess has been inviting nobles to the shrine and acting suspiciously. It looks like she’s plotting something that could harm Lady.”
“She hasn’t been inviting them specifically for strange behavior?”
“Not exactly. But the returning nobles are excessively becoming her followers and forming a faction. Nobles are openly confessing their feelings to the Saintess.”
It looks like they’re trying to restore their position after losing face because of Miryu.
‘If she doesn’t oppose me, it might be okay.’
Honestly, I can’t really guess what the Saintess is thinking.
‘Her hiding the fact that she’s Yesstela too.’
Even if the issues with the original story are resolved, I still worry about Yesstela.
‘I need to visit the Holy Land once.’
Carrying this new concern, I entered the Eden Rose garden. The lush blue Eden Roses were showing off their splendid beauty.
‘They’re always so beautiful.’
Though larger than ordinary roses, there were some incredibly large Eden Roses that looked almost surreal.
‘Come to think of it, this is where I planted the Undine Tier.’
I stepped in front of the largest rose. From the Eden Rose, containing the power of a spirit, I could definitely feel an unusual strength.
“Growl.”
Choco barked at the Eden Rose.
“Why are you acting up, Blackie? What’s wrong with this rose?”
‘Does a Mawu even recognize spirit power?’
I reached out and gently touched the particularly large Eden Rose. A tingling sensation ran through my hand.
‘What is this?’
The size of the Eden Rose started to increase.
“Lady, you’re cultivating the Eden Rose!”
“Be quiet, Betty. Lady always has a plan. Just wait quietly.”
“Yes, Lady must be preparing something huge again for this debut.”
No, I’m not!
‘Why is this growing?’
Each petal of the Eden Rose shimmered with colors like the ocean’s waves, then slowly unfurled.
‘A baby?’
Inside the Eden Rose, there was a surprisingly cute little baby.
The baby, with its fine black hair and pure white skin, looked adorable and lovely, eyes closed peacefully.
‘It looked familiar, so that’s why.’
The baby resembled a mix between me and John. It was fascinating.
“Oh, a baby! Lady made this baby with her hands!”
“Betty, don’t be rude.”
Betty shouted loudly, but Patricia calmly responded.
“We should use respectful titles for the successor.”
What are you talking about!
I swallowed hard. They said the spirit’s power helped with my curse, but I never imagined I’d see such a baby!
“Everyone, that’s… a spirit.”
Fortunately, Erich seemed to understand something.
“Lady has now created a spirit that almost never appears—”
And suddenly, the trees excitedly cheered for me.
-To see a spirit born in today’s world!
-Wow. You really are a fairy, huh? A spirit baby has been born.
-Look, it can’t even open its eyes properly yet. So cute.
Erich and the trees seemed to roughly understand what a spirit baby was.
-Hurry and hold it. If it gets influenced by strange things, it could be dangerous.
I slowly reached out and picked up the baby.
The baby wriggled as if recognizing me, then snuggled into my arms. Its chubby cheeks moving with every breath looked adorable and miraculous.
The trees, aware I was curious, kept talking about the baby nonstop.
-Maybe it was able to be born because of your power’s influence.
-Hmm. Still, it’s so young and just born, it probably only stays awake about an hour a day, right?
-It’s probably a big deal just to grow this much in the first place.
-So, what are you going to do? How should I explain this?
Then the trees fell silent.
-Won’t you answer my question?
-…
-Why don’t you command the garden trees to cut all the trees with an axe?
At that moment, the baby opened its big eyes, revealing a faint reddish glow in its deep blue eyes. The baby, with gentle eyes, stretched out a tiny hand toward me, wriggling.
“Oh, it’s awake.”
I watched the baby carefully, unsure how it would react.
‘It looks like a child I gave birth to myself.’
The spirit baby mumbled with its little mouth and grinned widely.
“Ma-mu, mama!”

John met with the demon and sought Estelle.
‘How much are you willing to lose?’
The last words the demon left lingered in my mind. I stormed into Estelle’s room, cursing loudly.
Estelle was lying on her bed.
“John?”
She looked up at him, eyes wide with surprise, as if she hadn’t expected him to be there.
‘Spirit?’
It was a baby emanating spirit energy.
A tiny angelic baby, barely grasping Esstel’s finger with its little fingers and sleeping soundly. Miraculously, that baby looked just like Estelle and John, as if they were half and half.
Seeing that baby, John felt a strange, warm sensation swell inside him.
