As the day of Alexis and Celine’s engagement celebration approached, with less than a month remaining, unrest spread throughout the royal castle.
Felicia—whose whereabouts and safety had been unknown until now—had suddenly appeared at the castle.
She was accompanied by a beautiful boy of about fourteen or fifteen years old and requested an audience with the king.
“Lady Felicia—you’re alive!”
“Where have you been all this time? And that attendant—whose household does he belong to?”
Ministers, councilors, and every person working within the castle were astonished by her sudden return, yet all were relieved to see her safe.
The news of Felicia’s return spread through the castle in the blink of an eye, reaching even Celine, who was attending her queenly education lessons there.
“What!? My sister-in-law!? She’s here at the castle right now?”
“Ah—Lady Celine! Please, wait!”
Without heeding her tutors’ attempts to stop her, Celine burst out of the room. She cut through the garden, desperate to reach the corridor leading to the audience chamber as quickly as possible—only to collide with someone coming from another direction.
“Kya!”
Alexis swiftly extended his arm and caught Celine before she could lose her balance and fall.
“Celine, what’s the matter? Why are you in such a hurry?”
“L–Lord Alexis! I—I just heard that my sister-in-law has arrived…”
“Felicia? What are you talking about?”
Surprise flickered across Alexis’s handsome face. It seemed he hadn’t yet been informed of Felicia’s return.
“Felicia… she’s alive?”
Still in his arms, Celine blushed as he leaned in close to ask.
