Chapter 43…
The Princess of Heat Haze Makes a Decision.
“This morning, Lord Yoan seems to be resting a little longer as well. Lady Felicia, please go ahead and have breakfast first.”
By the time Felicia had managed—albeit with a bit more effort than usual—to finish making the clafoutis, Hugo called out to her.
Since Felicia had come to this castle, she had always taken breakfast with Yoan every morning, but it seemed that Yoan couldn’t get up this morning either. Felicia’s worried expression suggested she thought he might be worn out from forcing himself to wake early, but Hugo shook his head.
“Thanks to Lady Felicia’s healing abilities, Lord Yoan is in excellent health. It seems he simply had trouble falling asleep last night. —Just like you, Lady Felicia.”
As expected, perhaps Hugo could see everything clearly. Felicia blushed again and lowered her gaze.
She felt a little hesitant to eat breakfast before the lord of the castle, but she realized that if she looked at Yoan now, memories of last night would surface, and she wouldn’t know how to act. So, she decided to follow Hugo’s suggestion.
“In that case, I will take the liberty and begin first.”
After finishing her breakfast and slicing the clafoutis, Hugo spoke to her again.
“Lord Yoan is awake now. He doesn’t want breakfast, but he is requesting Lady Felicia’s sweets.”
Just hearing Yoan’s name made her heart skip a beat.
“Thank you. I will bring them immediately.”
Although her heartbeat quickened, Felicia responded in as normal a tone as possible.
In the dining room, Yoan appeared even more sleepy than usual. The languid charm spilling from his half-closed eyes seemed capable of beguiling everything around him.
When Yoan noticed Felicia, a radiant smile spread across his face.
“Good morning, Felicia. I’m sorry we couldn’t have breakfast together this morning.”
Even though just meeting his gaze made her heart feel like it would stop, Felicia smiled as best she could.
“Good morning, Lord Yoan. I apologize for having eaten breakfast before you.”
At a time like this, she needed to maintain her composure. Felicia, as if reaffirming the manners ingrained in her, carefully calmed her mind and began preparing tea
