The Embroidery of the Mirage Princess.
As Felicia sat deep in thought, Yoan spoke.
“Also, it wasn’t only the handkerchief that had healing power. The sweets you make have it too. When I eat them, I can feel the healing spreading from within my body.”
“Eh? The sweets as well?”
At Yoan’s words, Hugo—who was standing near the dining room entrance—also nodded. Since Felicia always shared her sweets with him, it seemed he had noticed the same effect.
To think such a thing had been happening without her realizing it… she felt beyond surprise—almost bewildered.
Yoan smiled gently and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“You can think of it this way: your kind heart conveys your feelings to those you care for. It’s a kind of magic that only someone as compassionate as you could create. I’m honored to have received such feelings from you.”
Until now, Felicia had always wondered what purpose her faint magical power served—feeling only helplessness because of it. But she had healed Yoan when he was a boy with that same power. And now, even if only a little, it was once again useful—able to convey her gratitude.
Feeling as if she could finally repay Yoan, who had always helped her, even in a small way, Felicia for the first time felt truly glad to possess magic.

It might seem presumptuous. She might even be thought overconfident. But still… No—Yoan would never think such a thing. Clutching her hands tightly before her chest, she gathered her courage.
“Um, besides the handkerchief… could I perhaps add a little embroidery to your personal items—like towels or pillow covers? I’ll make sure the designs are subtle and not obtrusive… Please, may I?”
If it was permitted, she wanted—no matter how small—to be of use to Yoan.
Sensing the sincerity of her wish from her serious expression and trembling fingertips, Yoan smiled tenderly, as if enveloping her feelings.
“Of course. Nothing would make me happier than being able to feel your presence at any time. But once again—don’t overwork yourself. Remember that you’re here because I wished for you to be in this castle.”
Felicia felt her heart lighten, deeply relieved that her wish had been accepted.
“Yes, Lord Yoan. Thank you so very much.”
“Good. —Now then, let’s have lunch. If we delay too long, the afternoon tea will be pushed back. What sweets have you prepared for today?”
“Today, I’ve made chiboust.”
“Ah, wonderful. I love chiboust. I’ll look forward to tea time then.”
As Yoan’s beautiful face lit up with innocent joy, Hugo—carrying a tray—smiled wryly and cautioned him,
“Lord Yoan, please eat your lunch properly first.”
“I know, I know.”
The three of them exchanged smiles and laughter.
Their lunchtime passed peacefully.
