Chapter 35…

The Embroidery of the Mirage Princess.

Yoan’s daily routine consisted of swordsmanship and physical training in the mornings, followed by reading and magical study in the afternoons. Ever since Felicia had arrived, he had always invited her to join him during his reading hours.

The time she spent reading with Yoan each day had become precious to Felicia. Although they simply sat together, each absorbed in their own books, sharing that peaceful library space with him always filled her heart with a quiet sense of contentment.

Just having Yoan seated across the table, reading with her, wrapped her in a deep sense of calm. It had even become a habit for Felicia to prepare sweets and tea during their reading breaks.

After watching Yoan swing his sword again for a little while, Felicia returned inside the castle.

She spread the design sketches she had made earlier across her table and began to imagine Yoan’s long fingers holding a handkerchief.
Which design would stand out the most? Which one would best complement the noble grace that surrounded him?

(This one
and this one. Perhaps this as well
)
Selecting a few of her designs, she immediately began working—stitching as thoughts of Yoan filled her heart.

—Knock, knock, knock.
Startled by the sound, she looked up. When she glanced at the clock, she realized it was already lunchtime.

“Lady Felicia, lunch is ready,” came Hugo’s gentle voice. Felicia hurriedly stood up. Normally, she would go downstairs a bit early to help Hugo with the preparations, but she had been so absorbed in her work that she’d lost track of time.

“My apologies. I was so focused that I forgot the time. I’ll be right there.”
“It’s quite all right,” Hugo replied. “Lord Yoan said there’s no need to rush.”

One handkerchief had already been completed. Felicia took that one in hand and left her room.

“I’m so sorry to have kept you waiting,” she said to Hugo, who was waiting outside her door.
“It seems I hurried you unnecessarily. My apologies
oh? You’ve finished another one already?” Hugo’s eyes widened as he noticed what she held.

“Yes. Once I start embroidering, I have a bad habit of losing myself in it
” Felicia replied shyly.

She couldn’t help but wonder—did her embroidery truly match the fine quality of the handkerchiefs Hugo had so carefully selected? A faint unease crept into her heart.

“That’s another lovely piece,” Hugo said, nodding in admiration. “I’m sure Lord Yoan will be delighted.”

Relieved by his words, Felicia exhaled softly.
“I hope so
”
“I’m certain of it,” Hugo said with a warm smile.

Together, they made their way toward the dining room.

"Ah
 I’m finally going to die
"

Marquise Felicia was on the brink of death.

Felicia, once the fiancĂ©e of the crown prince, was attacked by someone and hovered between life and death, nearly crossing over into the underworld. Though she miraculously survived, she was diagnosed with aftereffects from the poison that made her unable to bear children, and her engagement was annulled. She became a shadowy figure, known as the “Princess of the Heat Haze.”

On her way to marry a lecherous count from a neighboring country—as if being driven out of her own mansion—Felicia’s carriage was attacked by bandits, once again putting her life in danger. She was saved by a demon king wearing a skull mask of a goat, feared by all as the most terrifying demon king. Why did this feared demon king save Felicia
?

And who was the person who tried to send Felicia to the underworld?

This is a story of love and growth between a marquise who, though praised as a treasure, disappeared from the public eye like a heat haze, and a duke feared as a demon king due to his overwhelming magical power and unusual appearance.
