Chapter 4: “Husband…?”
Lu Xi felt a little wronged, but she didn’t get angry. Instead, she calmly analyzed the situation.
“Sis, your mother-in-law wants to marry me off to her nephew and use his bride price as a down payment for a house.”
“Let’s not even talk about whether I agree or not. Just the house itself—your mother-in-law wants to put it under her name. That means it has nothing to do with you at all.”
“When you married my brother-in-law, he already had a house. That’s premarital property. His provident fund just happened to be enough to cover the mortgage, so the house still has nothing to do with you.”
“The car your brother-in-law bought at the time was registered under my grandfather’s name. That’s also premarital property, so it has nothing to do with you either.”
“Sis, I’m being blunt here—if one day you divorce your brother-in-law, you won’t get anything. You might not even get Guoguo, because he’s in a better financial position than you.”
Lu Yao was stunned for a moment, then explained softly.
“My mother-in-law is just very calculating. I’ve been married to Ah Nan for so many years, and she’s never stopped guarding against me.”
“But you know your brother-in-law’s character. Over the years, he never told his mother his actual salary. Every time he got paid, he gave it to me and asked me to save it in your account—he was helping me save money.”
“Xi Xi, I know you’re doing this for my good. But don’t worry about it. I’ll talk to my mother-in-law and just tell her you already have a boyfriend.”
“I’ll find you someone good—good character, and he has to treat you as well as your brother-in-law treats me. My sister is beautiful and a university graduate, so your partner must be even better than mine.”
Lu Xi felt her breathing tighten. Her sister completely misunderstood her point.
Lu Xi hurriedly said, “Sis, today brother-in-law hugged me and touched me. He said he likes me. He even said the three of us could live together.”
Lu Yao laughed immediately, not taking it seriously at all.
“Ah Nan is really something… I’ve told him so many times already. You’re 22 now, not a 10-year-old child anymore. He still treats you like a kid. I’ll talk to him later and tell him to be more careful. Our Xi Xi is grown up now, boundaries matter.”
Her tone was full of indulgence toward Lu Xi—and complete trust in her husband Chu Nan.
Lu Xi was both anxious and angry. She hadn’t exposed him earlier because her sister trusted him too much and wouldn’t believe her easily.
“Sis, don’t trust brother-in-law too much either. He’s not as good as you think.” Lu Xi muttered.
Lu Yao’s tone immediately turned cold.
“Lu Xi, I brought you into this marriage with Ah Nan for ten years. You know exactly how your brother-in-law treats you. If you keep talking like this and sowing discord, I’ll be angry.”
Lu Xi’s nose turned sour. “Sis, I’m sowing discord? I’m your real sister. Of course I want you to be happy. Forget it, I won’t say anymore.”
The sisters often argued, but Lu Xi had never felt so wronged before.
Her sister defended her brother-in-law so strongly that she wouldn’t tolerate even a single bad word. But she wasn’t lying.
Lu Yao sighed and was about to call back when Chu Nan pulled her into his arms.
“What happened? Did you argue with Xi Xi?”
Lu Yao gave a bitter smile. “Yeah. She said you hugged her and said you like her.”
Chu Nan looked helpless. “That’s my fault. I just always see her as she was ten years ago. I didn’t realize she’s grown up, so I unconsciously still treat her like a child.”
Lu Yao pouted at him. “Be careful in the future. She’s a 22-year-old girl now. What brother-in-law still hugs his sister-in-law? If I didn’t know your character, I’d really suspect you had ulterior motives toward Xi Xi.”
“It’s my fault,” Chu Nan said smoothly. “By the way, about Mom—don’t worry about her. She’s just being unreasonable. Xi Xi shouldn’t be married off to be a stepmother. Even if they offered ten million, I wouldn’t agree.”
Lu Yao nodded and leaned into his arms.
“But… we should still find a boyfriend for Xi Xi.”
Chu Nan said, “Don’t worry. The Fu Group has a lot of young men. Since I got her into Fu Group, the next step is finding her a good match.”
Meanwhile
“This is… Jiang Yi’s uncle’s house? This is a villa?!”
Lu Xi blinked in shock.
Jiang Yi’s uncle was this rich?
Jiang Yi usually spent money freely, so she seemed like she came from a wealthy family—but Lu Xi had no idea her uncle was this rich.
Right. The password.
Lu Xi opened her phone and found the message. Fu Nanzhou had indeed sent her the password.
She entered it. The door opened.
Lu Xi walked along the cobblestone path. On both sides was a garden. Further in was a huge outdoor swimming pool, and beyond that, a three-story villa. Each floor looked to be over 600 square meters.
“Welcome home, master.”
The smart lock announced mechanically, and the main door opened automatically.
Lu Xi peeked inside cautiously, hesitating for a moment before stepping in carefully.
Her steps were light, afraid of dirtying anything.
The villa was huge, and the interior was extremely luxurious.
Since she had entered without permission, she felt awkward, so she took off her shoes but didn’t even wear slippers. She left her suitcase by the entrance and sat on the sofa waiting for Fu Nanzhou.
At first, she sat properly. Later, she slumped down and slowly drifted off to sleep.
Fu Nanzhou arrived home at 10 p.m.
As he had just taken over the domestic headquarters after returning to the country, there were many handover tasks, so he worked late.
When he saw the girl curled up on the sofa, his eyes paused slightly.
For a brief moment, a familiar scene flashed through his mind—only the person had changed.
Then he remembered.
This was his newly married wife. They had just registered their marriage today.
Why was she asleep here?
Moonlight streamed in, softly falling on her pale face. She looked like she was glowing, like a princess from a fairy tale.
Too similar.
Fu Nanzhou looked at her for a while, loosened his tie, and exhaled. His neck was stiff from the whole day of work.
He walked over and bent down, intending to carry her up.
The sleeping girl slowly opened her eyes, looked at his close-up handsome face for a moment, then suddenly sat up.
“Ouch…”
Their foreheads bumped.
Lu Xi held her head in pain, her face instantly turning red.
Fu Nanzhou let out a low, pleasant laugh. “Do I look like I’m going to eat you? Why are you so scared?”
“Sorry, uncle.” Lu Xi blurted out.
Fu Nanzhou’s smile faded slightly. He raised an eyebrow. “Uncle?”
Lu Xi nodded. “Sorry, uncle. I just found out you’re Jiang Yi’s uncle.”
Fu Nanzhou chuckled. “No need to apologize. Lu Xi, we’re married now. You don’t have to call me husband, but you also can’t call me uncle. No uncle would marry his niece—unless he’s a pervert.”
Lu Xi suddenly felt a jolt in her heart.
“H-husband?!” she stammered.
“Mm. Mrs. Fu.” Fu Nanzhou replied calmly.
Lu Xi froze.
She had just called him “husband”—and he actually responded?
“Um… Mr. Fu, where should I sleep?”
Fu Nanzhou raised an eyebrow again. “Sleeping separately on the wedding night would cause rumors.”
Lu Xi’s face turned even redder.
So… they were going to sleep together.
Meaning… that thing?!
