Chapter – 49
“Alright, I trust Xuechu,” An Jianqing typed with a smile.
There was a knock on the office door. An Jianqing looked up and saw Ning Xun walking in.
“That child, Xuechu, is very smart. She’s already figured out that you arranged everything,” Ning Xun said with a smile, though there was a trace of confusion in his eyes. “Why did you have her start in sales?”
“I started out in sales back then too,” An Jianqing replied, not surprised by this outcome at all.
She had made things fairly obvious—if Ning Xuechu hadn’t figured it out, that would have been strange.
Ning Xun was momentarily taken aback. He hesitated, then tested the waters. “You don’t actually think an ordinary Omega can compare to an outstanding high-level Alpha like you, do you?”
An Jianqing didn’t answer directly. She only smiled and asked, “Director Ning, is there anything else?”
Hearing that, Ning Xun knew better than to continue the topic. He turned and left the office.

Ning Xuechu’s entry into the company caused quite a stir.
She was the only ordinary Omega working at Ning Group.
Throughout the morning, many people deliberately passed by, pretending to be on errands, just to see what kind of person could make the company break precedent and hire her.
There were Omegas in the company, but even the lowest were A-level. An ordinary Omega was truly unprecedented.
“I heard her surname is Ning. Do you think she’s related to Director Ning?”
“Just because she’s surnamed Ning means there’s a connection? Maybe she’s some manager’s little lover. Look at her—head to toe in designer brands, with that pitiful, delicate look. She’s like a fox spirit trying to seduce people.”
“If that were true, why wouldn’t they give her an easy job? Why make her do exhausting sales work?” someone questioned.
The person who had been mocking her couldn’t answer and stubbornly insisted, “Who knows what those people are thinking? Maybe it’s just to cover things up.”
“What are you all doing here? Why aren’t you working?” Ning Shuyue scolded sharply.
The whispering employees immediately shrank back and scattered.
Hearing the voice, Ning Xuechu looked up and gave Ning Shuyue a grateful smile.
Ning Shuyue frowned. Remembering Ning Yan’s words, she suppressed the disgust in her heart and nodded slightly.
Ning Xuechu wasn’t stupid. She could naturally tell that Ning Shuyue disliked her—and she had also heard what those people were saying.
Many people in the company looked down on her. Their gazes were filled with strange scrutiny and rejection.
All morning, aside from the team leader who explained some basic points, no one else spoke to her. Everyone was cold and indifferent toward her arrival.
This kind of alienation wasn’t new to Ning Xuechu. She wouldn’t let something like this break her mentality.
As long as they didn’t bring things into the open, she could pretend not to know.
“Xuechu, it’s your first day at the company. How does it feel?” An Jianqing asked during lunch break.
“Everything’s fine. It’s just that there’s a lot to learn. I’ll probably need to spend more time getting the hang of things,” Ning Xuechu replied, adding a blushing emoji afterward.
“No need to rush. I’ll arrange for someone to guide you tomorrow. Today, just get used to the atmosphere and get to know your colleagues,” An Jianqing said reassuringly.
When she herself had joined as an Alpha, she’d faced plenty of obstacles. For Ning Xuechu, integrating would be even harder.
Placing her in the sales department was meant to let her start from the basics and understand the company faster—not to let others bully her.
“But I’m just a newcomer. If you do that, others might be unhappy,” Ning Xuechu said cautiously.
“You don’t need to worry. I’ll arrange everything,” An Jianqing replied.
Five minutes later, the sales supervisor walked over with a smile. “Xiao Ning, since today is your first day, just familiarize yourself with the environment. I’ll assign someone to teach you tomorrow.”
“Alright, thank you,” Ning Xuechu said politely.
That afternoon, she sat at her desk watching everyone else bustle around.
Strangely enough, no one came over to sneak glances at her anymore, and there were no more sharp, unpleasant whispers.
She finally felt some peace and idly waited for the workday to end.
When it was time to get off work, she stayed seated. Only after most people had left did she stand up and head out.
“Xuechu, are you done? Wait for me at the garage entrance—we’ll go home together,” An Jianqing messaged her.
Ning Xuechu’s heart jumped. “Sister, isn’t that a bad idea? If people see me in your car, they’ll definitely say I’m your little lover.”
When An Jianqing saw the words little lover, her heart suddenly jolted.
What flashed through her mind first wasn’t anger at being gossiped about, but an inexplicable tension.
She paused, steadied herself, and replied, “There’s no need to care about rumors. I don’t plan to hide your identity.”
She wanted to make it absolutely clear to everyone—Ning Xuechu was a daughter of the Ning family, not someone anyone could bully.
“Okay, Sister. I’ll listen to you,” Ning Xuechu typed back, sending a well-behaved smiling emoji.
So An Jianqing planned to be open about it. That was good—she could avoid a lot of trouble that way.

Ning Xuechu stood at the entrance of the parking garage. As cars passed by, people inside kept craning their necks to look at her.
Those gazes were filled with jealousy, curiosity, and disdain.
Ning Xuechu ignored them. When she saw An Jianqing’s car pull up, she immediately waved happily.
Under many astonished gazes, she got into An Jianqing’s car.
“Sister,” Ning Xuechu called with a smile, her joy impossible to hide.
“What’s got you so happy?” An Jianqing asked with a smile as she started the car.
Ning Xuechu pressed her lips together, her eyes shining. “Just seeing you makes me happy. It feels like all my worries disappear.”
An Jianqing’s heart skipped a beat. She tightened her grip on the steering wheel and asked calmly, “Did anything unpleasant happen at the company today?”
“No, no,” Ning Xuechu shook her head quickly.
She answered too fast—almost as if she were trying to hide something.
