Melon
A local scary story.
There was a local melon farmer whose business started failing due to a poor melon harvest.
To get by, the farmer borrowed money from every place he could.
However, before long, the debts piled up to the point where he couldn’t manage them anymore.
He ended up getting into serious trouble with the loan sharks he had borrowed from.
After that trouble occurred, rumors began to spread that something was wrong with the melons being shipped from that farmer.
What was strange about them was that the flesh was bright red, and thick, sludge-like juice oozed out.
On top of that, the flesh looked squirmy and was extremely unpleasant to look at.
People said it was as if there were brains inside the melon.
At the end of that year, the owner of the melon farm was arrested.
