Chapter 59
School Festival, Day 1①
The Kochū Academy school festival had begun.
Thanks to the student council putting in extra effort this year, the festival was on a larger scale than usual.
The student council members must have really worked hard. Even some visitors from outside, having heard the rumors, were coming into the school in quite a number.
On the first and second days, the classes in charge of performances and those mainly observing would swap.
Our class was assigned the performance for the first day: the “Beautiful Boy Butler & Beautiful Girl Maid Café.”
Anyway, we had to attract as many people as possible. The members responsible for recruiting continued to promote the café tirelessly to both students and outside guests.
Especially the hall members—the ones working in the classroom serving customers—were few in number because the best-looking members were concentrated there, so it would be quite tough.
After finishing some recruiting, I moved to help my original team: the cooking team.
This time, my role was to hand over dishes. I would take the food prepared by the cooking team and pass it to the hall members.
In front of the classroom serving as the café, a long line of people had formed. Word of mouth had clearly worked, and the classroom must have been chaotic inside.
I waited in the prep room to receive the dishes and handed out numbered tickets for each customer. One mistake and the hall members would get scolded, so it was a serious responsibility.
The café classroom and prep room were connected inside.
The first person entered the prep room. I prepared the dishes for the butlers to carry and distributed the numbered tickets.
The first was Yusa Amatsu, dressed as a butler—a first-year helping out. I felt bad that he probably wanted to just watch the festival.
Despite his youth, his refined features probably made the older girls happy.
“Senpai, good work today.”
“How’s it going inside?”
Amatsu nodded.
“There are only three butlers, but thanks to Seiya-senpai, it’s manageable. The maids might have it tougher, though.”
That’s right… you could hear the high-pitched screams from inside the café. It must really be tough. And Amatsu was helping without complaining—how considerate.
I handed the food to Amatsu and sent him back to the classroom. Next was Hiyori Amano, nicknamed Hii-chan, a current idol.
She wore a frilly maid outfit with a headpiece, her long blonde hair flowing. As expected of an active idol, she knew how to present herself.
“Ah, ya~! Why is it so busy!? I thought all I had to do was smile as the super cute idol Hii-chan.”
“Well, the situation changed.”
“Yeah, I missed helping earlier because of school, so it can’t be helped. Here, take the food!”
I handed Hii-chan an omelet rice set. She looked at me again.
“You can fall for my cuteness if you want, you know.”
“Haha, I sometimes wish it were Mi-chan, my favorite, instead.”
“She has a boyfriend, you know.”
“Stop it!! Don’t ruin my reality!!”
Next to enter were Kasumi Hōjō in butler attire and Kanaha Yumisaki in maid attire.
Hōjō was tall and striking, and the glimpse of femininity through her butler outfit was sexy and appealing.
Yumisaki looked fantastic in her maid outfit too. Usually not seen outside, she might be considered a hidden beauty.
Her neatly cut black hair gave a serious, fresh look, and, most noticeable, her chest was… impressive.
Of course, I couldn’t say that out loud.
“Hōjō-san, Yumisaki-san, thanks for your hard work. Are you okay?”
Hōjō wiped her sweat with a towel and took a drink.
“I’m managing. Kanagi is moving like three people. Memorizing the menu without notes… working at a restaurant is impressive.”
“Seiya might just be a bit unusual. Yumisaki-san… seems tough.”
“Yes, it’s unfamiliar. But I want to do part-time jobs in college, so I see it as good practice.”
I prepared a yakisoba set for the two of them to carry, plus a few drinks.
“Good luck, both of you!”
Just as Hōjō and Yumisaki entered the classroom, the door for transporting dishes from the prep room opened.
“Looks like it’s a huge success.”
“Kudobara-san!”
The student council president, Saika Kudobara, wearing a custom maid outfit with a slightly different headpiece and white apron.
She exuded incredible allure—the very image of a head maid.
“Fufu, Taiyō-kun, don’t just be mesmerized.”
“Y-yeah, that’s true… But aren’t you busy too, president?”
“The busiest part is about an hour. I’ll go play with my lovely maids.”
“Do some customer service too.”
With superhuman Kudobara entering, things would be much easier. Maybe a few could take a break during that time.
While thinking that, Kudobara handed me a case.
“What’s this?”
“There’s a camera inside. As long as I order it, you can film freely.”
“Ahaha, impressive.”
“You can have Tsukiyo-kun’s data too.”
I definitely wanted that. Personally, I’d like all of it.
“I’ll swap outfits with Kasumi later. I need to remember her maid look too.”
Good idea.
With that, Kudobara went into the classroom.
“Good work! Taiyō-kun!”
Next into the prep room were Mizuri Kagaya and Umika Sera, who had been on break until now.
“There’s still break time.”
“Yeah, but it looks tough. Alright, let’s do our best!”
Mizuri’s long flaxen hair suited her perfectly. Nominated for the Miss Contest, she was a classic beautiful girl maid. She was working hard as the class’s central figure. Since the contest was in the evening, I had to avoid overburdening her.
“Senpai, look! Isn’t it super cute?”
Sera twirled to show off—indeed cute. As an athletic student, she was light on her feet, easily carrying dishes.
She was a first-year girl just as popular as Tsukiyo.
“Ah, you two, line up for photos.”
“Eh?” “Huh?”
“Stop making such unwilling faces. Kudobara-san asked me to take them; it’s not my fault.”
Normally cheerful, seeing those expressions from them hurt surprisingly much. With others, excitement would override the hurt, though.
“Next break is Tsukiyo, so call him.”
“Okay~”
Grateful to the two for letting me photograph them. They went into the crowded classroom.
At the same time, Seiya Kaminagi, my older brother, came in.
Wow—his smile was huge, the perfect “mask smile.” A master of customer service.
Seeing me, his expression returned to his usual indifferent face. Honestly, I preferred this calm look.
Now, including Tsukiyo coming later, I’d have to handle the Kaminagi siblings.
