Chapter 57.
School Festival Preparations ~Underclassmen~
So, thatâs how I ended up in the first-year classroom.
At this point, thereâs no room left for hesitation.
If I fail, Mizusato-san will torment me to death. That woman⌠sheâs surprisingly ruthless when she decides to be.
Still⌠even if theyâre underclassmen, itâs hard to just stroll into another class.
And the person I came here for â Kaminagi Tsukiyo â was surrounded by an overwhelming number of classmates, making it hard to approach.
Sheâs as popular as ever.
But⌠when sheâs not with Sera-san or Urihara-san, Tsukiyo never really looks all that happy, does she?
âYamada-senpai?â
âOh, Amatsu! Hey!â
Yusa Amatsu â a first-year boy I got close to around the end of summer break.
Heâs been pretty busy as one of the student council officers.
A well-featured, slightly boyish face that makes him overwhelmingly popular among first-yearsâŚ
âGot ourselves a butler candidate!â
âHuh?â
Using Amatsuâs help, I called over Tsukiyo, Sera-san, and Urihara-san.
âI see, so your class is doing a play?â
âYes. Itâs about two knights and one princess. Kinori-san wrote the script.â
Introduced by Amatsu, Urihara Kinori blushed and nodded.
Apparently, since that whole âconfession playâ incident, Amatsu and Kinori have been getting along quite well.
Theyâre even on a first-name basis now⌠as expected, handsome guys have it way too easy.
âFaaahhh~ So, senpai, you want us to help out, right?â
âYeah. The playâs on day two, and our maid cafĂŠâs on day one. There wonât be any overlap, so Iâd really appreciate your help!â
Sera Umika yawned loudly as she spoke.
âIn that case, can I propose one condition in exchange for accepting? If your class agrees to it, Iâm fine with helping.â
Amatsu said seriously, raising one finger.
âOne of the two knights in our play got injured, so weâre looking for a replacement. Seiya-senpai fits the role perfectly. Could we borrow him?â
âSure thing!â
âYou canât just decide that on your own, youâll get scolded by your brother.â
âYeah, yeah, I got it.â
Tsukiyo scolded me, of course.
I pulled out my phone and called Seiya.
The line connected immediately.
âWhat.â
âIâll treat you to food on both days of the festival. Just do me this favor.â
âGot it.â
The call ended.
âHe said itâs fine.â
Tsukiyo sighed and held her head.
I wasnât sure if she was frustrated at me or at her brother.
But thatâs how it is with close friends â you just kind of know what the otherâs thinking.
(Though in Seiyaâs case, heâs my only close friend, really.)
Anyway, some extra spending is worth it.
If thatâs what it takes to recruit this group to the cafĂŠ, Iâll go all in.
By the way, Seiyaâs been helping the student council thanks to Kudo-sanâs recommendation.
This school might as well be the Kudohara Kingdom at this point â no one dares oppose her.
âIâm not the lead in the play anyway, so Iâve got time. I can help too.â
âYouâre a lifesaver!â
With that, I got a âyesâ from Amatsu and Sera-san.
I wanted Urihara-san too, but Amatsu shot that down.
What a possessive boyfriend. Damn him.
I turned to Tsukiyo.
âI donât really mind either.â
âEh? But youâre playing the princess, right? Youâll be busy.â
âUmi-chan?â
âIf you really want her to help, youâll have to make an offer that sweeps Tsukiyo off her feet.â
âWaitâhey!â
Wha⌠so I canât just ask for her help normally?
Come on, Tsukiyo, you were on board a moment ago!
âYeah, youâll have to ask me properly.â
âWhaaa?â
Tsukiyo folded her arms and looked away â adorable. No, focus!
She was totally ready to say yes earlier!
But if she insists⌠then fine.
Even if itâs embarrassing, Iâll do what I have to.
Every time Iâve been serious, Tsukiyo has answered me sincerely.
So this time, too, Iâll go all out.
I made sure that only Amatsu, Sera, and Urihara were nearby.
âTsukiyo,â I said, placing both hands on her shoulders.
I stared straight into her soft, dual-colored eyes, and before she could get embarrassed, I spoke my mind.
âHyahââ
âPlease. I⌠I want to see you in a maid outfit. I know youâll be the cutest one of all. So please, show me that side of you.â
ââŚOkay, that was kinda creepy.â
âKinori, no! Donât say that out loud!â
I could hear two uneasy girls muttering behind me, but I think my feelings got across.
I still had my hands on Tsukiyoâs slender shoulders.
Her cheeks were slightly flushed as she looked away from me.
âW-well⌠if you put it that way⌠fine.â
âThank you!â
âSeriously!? That was super cringe, and youâre okay with that, Tsukiyo!?â
Sera-san, please, donât say it like that.
I know Iâm not exactly the cool type, and saying cheesy stuff like that with this face probably looked pathetic.
But itâs true â I really wanted to see Tsukiyo in a maid uniform.
So now I had two maids and one butler secured.
Looks like Iâll survive without getting killed by Mizusato-san.
And thus, the school festival was just around the corner.
âAmatsu⌠was my way of asking really that gross?â
âUh⌠ahahahaâŚâ
âGuess Iâll go ask Urihara-san which was worse â my line or your âsockâ story.â
âPlease, no! Anything but that!!â
