Chapter 6: She’s Jealous
Guan Ju was brimming with confidence.
Her gaze softened as she looked at the figure not far away. When the other woman glanced back, she curved her lips into a bright, radiant smile.
But she’d forgotten something.
This wasn’t her old face—the one with baby-fat cheeks and adorable dimples.
The exact same smile, worn by this face, somehow carried an edge of coldness.
Bai Weixi visibly flinched.
She was terrified of that smile.
Every time Guan Ju smiled like that, she would inevitably end up suffering for it.
“M-Miss Guan… is there something you need?”
Bai Weixi’s face turned slightly pale. Her trembling voice carried unmistakable fear.
Guan Ju had no idea what she’d done to frighten her goddess. She felt both helpless and frustrated.
She only wanted to treat her better.
She wanted to close the distance between them.
Yet somehow, everything she did had the opposite effect, leaving Bai Weixi nervous and on edge.
“Nothing,” Guan Ju replied gloomily.
Bai Weixi nodded lightly and lowered her eyes to stare at her fingers.
Silence settled over the room once more.
It was so quiet they could almost hear the hum of the air conditioner.
Guan Ju stopped trying to make conversation and secretly studied the woman before her.
Too much had happened earlier. She hadn’t had the chance to properly look at her goddess.
Today, Bai Weixi was wearing a long black dress.
It outlined a waist so slender Guan Ju suspected she could wrap both hands around it.
Her waist-length hair flowed down her back, giving her a gentle, graceful appearance and making her face seem even smaller.
But the confidence and elegance that once shone in her eyes—the brilliance that could drive countless fans into screaming frenzies—was gone.
Guan Ju still remembered the first time she’d met her idol up close.
She’d been so excited she hadn’t slept all night.
When Bai Weixi handed her a signed photograph, the faint smile in those beautiful eyes had struck straight through her heart.
It had stayed with her throughout her entire university life.
Through her youth.
And now…
That very person was standing right in front of her.
Not only that.
She was Guan Ju’s girlfriend.
Legitimately.
The thought made the corners of Guan Ju’s lips curl upward.
“Big Sister Xi…”
Bai Weixi immediately looked up.
“Miss Guan, do you need something?”
Fear still lingered deep in her eyes.
“Nothing.”
Guan Ju shook her head with a smile.
She’d only wanted to call her name.
She hadn’t actually thought about what to say afterward.
“If there’s nothing else, then I… I’d like to…”
Bai Weixi pressed her lips together. Her voice grew quieter and quieter, and her head unconsciously dipped lower.
A flash of heartache crossed Guan Ju’s eyes.
The goddess in her heart shouldn’t be like this.
She shouldn’t be timid, shrinking into herself, afraid to even speak.
“Big Sister Xi, if there’s something you want to say, then just say it.”
Her voice was gentle, carrying a faint smile.
Bai Weixi bit her lip and shook her head without answering.
Understanding, Guan Ju didn’t press further.
She simply sat on the bed, lost in thought.
A short while later—
Bang!
The door was shoved open with enough force to shake the room, shattering the quiet atmosphere.
Guan Ju looked up.
The woman who claimed to be her younger sister was standing in the doorway, dragging a handsome man along with her.
The moment their eyes met, the woman pointed angrily at Guan Ju.
“Brother Chen! My sister’s brain is broken. Hurry up and take a look at her!”
The familiarity in her tone made it obvious she was close to the man.
Guan Ju’s brows instinctively furrowed.
She genuinely disliked this woman.
She had no manners whatsoever, and everything she said and did came across as thoughtless and reckless.
Seeing Guan Ju’s displeased expression, the woman no longer dared point at her and instead turned her anger toward Bai Weixi.
“It must be her fault! Ever since my sister got hurt, she’s been the one staying by her side. She’s the only one who had the chance to do anything!”
Bai Weixi immediately shook her head in panic.
Her helpless gaze sought out the man.
The sight instantly made Guan Ju feel a sour sting in her chest.
Someone Bai Weixi instinctively turned to for help…
That person had to hold an important place in her heart.
The man smiled gently, calm reassurance filling his eyes.
“Zhouzhou, don’t worry. Let me check on Sister Ju first.”
As he spoke, he subtly freed his sleeve from the woman’s grip and walked toward the bed.
Guan Ju’s frown deepened.
She sneaked a glance at Bai Weixi—
Only to discover that Bai Weixi’s eyes had been fixed on the man the entire time.
There was even a strange glimmer in them.
The realization sent Guan Ju’s mood plummeting.
Sensing her unhappiness, the man’s smile became even gentler.
Sitting beside the bed, he asked softly,
“Sister Ju, do you remember me?”
“Who are you?”
Guan Ju answered coldly.
She had absolutely no desire to entertain him.
The man wasn’t surprised.
His smile never wavered.
“My name is Song Chen. I’m a psychologist—”
“Brother Chen, stop wasting time explaining!” the woman interrupted impatiently. “Just figure out what’s wrong with my sister!”
She strode to the bedside and stared directly at Guan Ju.
“Sis, stop pretending already—”
“Who are you?”
Guan Ju’s voice turned even colder.
A trace of hostility appeared in her eyes.
“You’ve been making noise this entire time. Are you trying to harm me?”
“Sis, what are you talking about? Why would I hurt you?” the woman cried anxiously. “I’m your biological sister!”
Guan Ju let out a cold laugh and leaned comfortably against the headboard.
“Really? Then while I was injured, why wasn’t my biological sister the one taking care of me?”
“I…”
The woman was instantly rendered speechless.
After stammering for a moment, she turned her fury toward Bai Weixi.
“You little parasite! You’ve been driving a wedge between us sisters! Why wasn’t you the one who got hurt instead?”
“If my younger sister were as vicious as you,” Guan Ju said coldly, “I’d rather not have a sister at all.”
The seriousness in her expression made it clear she wasn’t joking.
The woman froze.
Panic immediately spread across her face.
“Sis, I really am your sister!”
When Guan Ju remained indifferent, she hurriedly tugged on Song Chen’s sleeve.
“Brother Chen, please tell her!”
Song Chen turned around and smiled reassuringly.
“Don’t worry, Zhouzhou. Sister Ju just doesn’t recognize you for now. Once her memories return, everything will be fine. The fact that you’re sisters won’t change because of an accident.”
His gentle tone and composed demeanor made it feel as though there wasn’t a problem in the world he couldn’t solve.
People couldn’t help but trust him.
The panic on Guan Zhou’s face gradually eased.
Patting her chest, she said,
“Then hurry up and make her remember. We can’t let outsiders take advantage of this.”
As she spoke, she shot Bai Weixi a vicious glare.
The disgust on her face was impossible to miss.
Feeling that hostility, Bai Weixi silently lowered her head.
Guan Ju immediately couldn’t tolerate it anymore.
She let out a cold laugh.
“Big Sister Xi stayed by my side the entire time after I was injured. If I’m going to treat someone well, shouldn’t it be her? Why would I waste kindness on a rude, malicious person?”
“Who are you calling malicious? I’m not—”
Guan Zhou started to snap back.
But the moment she met Guan Ju’s icy gaze, all her arrogance vanished.
Instead, she looked wronged.
“Sis… how can you say that about me?”
Guan Ju didn’t answer.
She merely gave her a look of undisguised contempt.
Seeing the situation escalating, Song Chen stepped in smoothly.
“Sister Ju, don’t be angry. Zhouzhou just speaks her mind. She doesn’t mean any harm. I’m sure Weixi doesn’t mind.”
As he finished speaking, he turned toward Bai Weixi and offered her a gentle smile.
Bai Weixi froze.
She quickly glanced at Guan Ju before nodding.
Something twisted painfully inside Guan Ju’s chest.
This man was openly exchanging looks with her goddess right in front of her.
Worse still—
Her goddess actually listened to him.
It was unbelievably frustrating.
“See? She admitted it herself!” Guan Zhou immediately regained her confidence and raised her voice. “I wasn’t targeting her at all.”
Guan Ju couldn’t be bothered with her.
Instead, she looked coldly at Song Chen.
“Are we very close? Why are you sitting here?”
Even faced with such obvious hostility, Song Chen’s smile remained unchanged.
“Sister Ju used to invite me to dinner quite often. Sometimes she’d even come find me in the middle of the night just to talk.”
In the middle of the night.
The words narrowed Guan Ju’s eyes.
Her displeasure intensified.
Someone you could visit at midnight…
That kind of relationship was never ordinary.
“Is that so?” she replied flatly. “I don’t remember.”
And she truly didn’t.
She had never met this man before.
Still, it was obvious Song Chen wasn’t simple.
He seemed unusually close to all three women in the room.
“It doesn’t matter if you don’t remember,” Song Chen said with a smile. “I’ve already spoken with your attending physician. It’s only temporary amnesia. One day you’ll recover your memories. And I believe that day will come very soon.”
His eyes were warm and sincere.
Guan Ju looked away irritably.
Men with personalities like his were the worst.
You couldn’t even get angry at them without seeming unreasonable.
“I’m tired,” she said, closing her eyes. “I want to rest.”
The three visitors immediately prepared to leave.
“Sis, get some good rest. I’ll come see you tomorrow.”
Guan Zhou smiled ingratiatingly, though her beautiful face still carried its usual pride as she strutted out.
“Sister Ju, we’ll leave you to rest.”
Song Chen’s voice remained as gentle as ever.
When he reached the doorway, he glanced back at Bai Weixi.
Clearly, he was waiting for her.
Pressing her lips together, Bai Weixi hurried over.
Just before leaving, a faint smile finally appeared on her face.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it.”
Song Chen smiled back.
He waited for her to exit first before quietly closing the door behind them.
The moment all three were gone, Guan Ju sat up on the bed in frustration.
She had heard that “thank you” perfectly clearly.
The tone Bai Weixi used with Song Chen was completely different from the way she spoke to her.
Just what kind of charm did that man possess?
Why was her goddess so close to him?
“If only Big Sister Xi could treat me like that too…”
Guan Ju sighed and collapsed face-first onto the bed.
If she couldn’t earn Bai Weixi’s trust soon, she was genuinely afraid that precious woman at the center of her heart would be stolen away by some psychologist.
That was her goddess.
There was no way she was handing her over to anyone else.
No way.
Absolutely not.
