Chapter 3 ….
Status Open
However, no matter how angry I was about my current situation, or how much resentment I held toward Liliana and my younger brother, it was also true that I lacked the power to change any of it.
And every time I was reminded of that fact, I became painfully aware of my own helplessness, and I grew to hate myself for it.
âAt the very least, if only I could use summoned magical beasts⊠If itâs summoned magical beasts, I raised most of them to the maximum level, and after spending that much money on them, shouldnât I at least be able to use oneâŠ? âŠHm? What are summoned magical beasts? I shouldnât have a contract with even a single summoned magical beast⊠And what is âspending moneyâ supposed to mean?â
Without thinking, I had casually muttered, âIf only I could use summoned magical beasts,â but in the first place, I had never once succeeded in summoning even a single magical beast.
Not only that, I had even spoken words like âspending moneyâ despite having no idea what they meant.
I didnât understand.
And yet, even though I didnât understand, it somehow felt as though I truly did know those things.
It was an incredibly strange feeling.
Perhaps all the stress that had built up over the years had finally driven me insane.
While thinking that, the terms âsummoned magical beastsâ and âspending moneyâ bothered me like a fish bone stuck in my throat, and the moment I tried to remember themâ
A violent headache struck me, and along with it, memories of a previous life came flooding into my mind like a raging torrent.
The sheer volume of information and the overwhelming pain nearly caused me to lose consciousness.
Yet the more memories of my previous life poured into my brain, the more I felt an indescribable sense of joy rising within me at the same time.
If the memories of my previous life were true, then I would finally be able to strike back at everyone who had mocked me all this timeâ
Using the very same âpowerâ they valued so highly.
If this wasnât cause for joy, then what was?
I barely managed to suppress the urge to shout aloud from the overwhelming happiness and sense of liberation.
At the very least, if the memories of my previous life were accurate, then I had undoubtedly obtained enough power that I could abandon this ridiculous house, my fiancée, the burdens of nobility and being the eldest son, and even the Empire itself without suffering any consequences.
However, at the moment, it was still only âif the memories of my previous life are true.â
Verification was necessary.
And so, while restraining my surging excitement, I quietly muttered:
âStatus Open.â
The instant I did, the status screen of the character I had played in the VRMMO from my previous life appeared before my eyes.
There could be no clearer proof than thatâ
Proof that I had reincarnated into this world while inheriting the status of the VRMMO character I had played in my previous life.
