Chapter 015
Cute
As if sensing her gaze, Xiao Suo’s eyes shifted, and he looked down at the little girl standing beside him with a face full of admiration.
She was so well-behaved. Even without getting close, he felt as though she must smell faintly of milk.
Even for a man in his thirties, being looked at with such adoring eyes by a little girl was enough to make him secretly pleased.
The little girl stared at him with wide, black-and-white eyes, blinking hardly at all as if she had become completely mesmerized.
“What are you looking at?”
Xiao Suo bent down and gently tapped her forehead, amusement filling his eyes.
“A-Are you Uncle’s friend?”
The little dumpling’s soft, fair face was unusually serious as she looked at him nervously.
She wasn’t very brave when speaking to Uncle, but somehow, when facing this unfamiliar uncle, she felt an instant sense of closeness.
Xiao Suo paused for a moment before suddenly laughing.
“You don’t call him Dad?”
Qingqing pursed her lips. Within a few breaths, her bun-like little face turned bright red.
Blinking shyly, she whispered,
“I’m a little embarrassed.”
The expression on her face, combined with those words, made Xiao Suo grin from ear to ear.
The fondness in his eyes was so obvious that anyone unaware of the situation might have thought she was his own daughter.
“You’re embarrassed? That’s adorable.”
He rubbed the fluffy top of her head and found himself reluctant to stop.
Such a sweet little girl.
Fu Sihuai had truly struck gold.
Leading Qingqing toward the villa, Xiao Suo chatted with her nonstop along the way, as though he thoroughly enjoyed talking to the little girl.
“You didn’t get hurt just now, did you?”
“No~”
Qingqing shook her head. Her clear, bright eyes continued following him curiously.
Her soft, babyish voice was incredibly pleasant to listen to.
“I still don’t know who you are.”
Xiao Suo burst out laughing. Stopping in his tracks, he copied her tone.
“You want to know who I am?”
“Mhm, mhm!”
Qingqing stopped as well and looked up at him eagerly.
“My name is Xiao Suo. I’m the friend of the uncle who adopted you. You should call me Uncle Xiao.”
The little girl nodded obediently.
“Oh.”
Then she dutifully called him Uncle Xiao.
“Thank you, Uncle Xiao. Why did you come to our house today?”
Hearing that question, Xiao Suo finally remembered the real reason for his visit.
He called over a servant and flopped onto the sofa like a bandit claiming territory, looking completely at home.
“Bring me every flower in the house.”
The servant froze at the strange request.
“M-Mr. Xiao, do you mean… every flower in the house?”
Xiao Suo hummed in confirmation.
The servant didn’t understand, but complied anyway.
More than ten minutes later, every flower in the residence had been gathered and placed on the table before him.
Xiao Suo stared at the collection for a long time.
Then, with obvious reluctance, he lifted his gaze.
“That’s all?”
“These are all the flowers in the house.”
His interest immediately faded.
“Fine. Put them away.”
“……Yes, Mr. Xiao.”
Qingqing had been watching the entire scene from the side.
She jumped down from the sofa and quietly ran upstairs while Xiao Suo wasn’t paying attention.
There was still one bouquet that hadn’t been brought down.
It was the one she had given to her brother that morning.
Her brother hadn’t taken all of them. He had only taken two roses, and the rest were still in her room.
Qingqing found the vase in her room, picked it up, and carefully carried it downstairs.
“Uncle Xiao, there’s another one here.”
Before she even reached him, Xiao Suo caught a whiff of that rich, intoxicating fragrance.
His eyes lit up instantly as he turned to look at the little girl carrying the flowers.
That’s it.
That was the scent.
