Chapter 12
The Company
“U-Uncle…”
As the vase was taken away, Qingqing saw the tall figure standing before her and immediately became less relaxed than before.
The watery sparkle in her big eyes flickered as she grew a little nervous.
She looked completely different from when she had sweetly called Aunt Liu just moments ago.
Dressed in a pure black suit, Fu Sihuai gave off an overwhelming aura of restraint and coldness at first glance. Yet the flowers in his hand softened that distant, unapproachable presence.
His voice was steady and indifferent, but his tone was calm and gentle, especially after remembering how timid this little girl was.
“Where should I put them?”
Qingqing froze for a moment before carefully pointing toward the dining table.
“I want to give them to Big Brother~”
Holding the vase, Fu Sihuai walked toward the table.
The little dumpling hurried after him, her short legs moving as fast as they could. She looked like a tiny potato with two little sticks stuck underneath.
Noticing that the child behind him was struggling to keep up, he slowed his pace.
Qingqing had indeed woken up much earlier today.
Fu Yueci had only recently come downstairs and had been sitting at the dining table for a short while.
When he saw his usually expressionless father approaching with a bouquet of flowers, surprise flashed through his eyes.
“Dad, why are you…”
Halfway through his sentence, he suddenly inhaled sharply.
“It smells amazing!”
“Big Brother!”
At that moment, the little girl finally caught up. Poking her head out from behind Fu Sihuai’s leg, she revealed a tiny dimple on her soft, fair face, looking as adorable as a freshly steamed bun.
“Flowers for you~”
Qingqing leaned against the table with both hands and grinned foolishly at Fu Yueci.
After a brief hesitation, he reached out and picked a pink rose.
Both the color and fragrance were far better than what he had seen the previous night.
Was this really the same flower?
Still, with so many flowers available, taking one to school would be enough to prove that he hadn’t been wearing perfume.
The corners of Fu Yueci’s lips lifted slightly.
In a good mood, he said to Qingqing,
“When Big Brother comes home today, I’ll bring you something tasty!”
The little girl’s smile immediately widened.
She looked completely satisfied.
The interaction between the two surprised Fu Sihuai.
He withdrew his gaze and glanced at the watch on his wrist.
It was time to go to work.
“Hey, Dad, wait!”
Seeing him about to leave, Fu Yueci quickly stood up while holding the vase.
“Why don’t you take one to your office? The scent is really refreshing. Seriously.”
His expression was exceptionally sincere.
Hearing this, Qingqing also turned toward Fu Sihuai nervously.
When she saw that he hadn’t moved, she gathered her courage and softly pointed to a pink rose.
“Uncle… this one… this one smells the best…”
Fu Sihuai lowered his eyes toward the vase and pulled out the flower Qingqing had pointed at.
For a child who had been so afraid of him last night to voluntarily speak to him now was truly rare.
“Thank you.”
He gave a slight nod, his voice calm and gentle.
After Fu Sihuai left, Qingqing clenched her little fists excitedly.
Looking up at her brother, her pure black eyes sparkled like they were filled with tiny stars.
“Uncle took my flower! He even said thank you to me!”
“Are you really that happy?”
Fu Yueci laughed and casually ruffled her hair.
“Come on, eat breakfast.”
…
For Fu Sihuai, today seemed no different from countless ordinary days before it.
The driver stopped the car outside the company building.
After getting out, he took a few steps before turning back and retrieving the flower.
The scent genuinely improved one’s mood.
Even someone like him, who disliked fragrances, found it perfectly pleasant.
When he entered the company lobby carrying a pink rose, the receptionist was completely stunned.
She mechanically greeted him.
“Good morning, President Fu.”
Then she watched him walk toward the elevator in disbelief.
Had some brave woman really stopped the CEO halfway and handed him a flower?
That took courage.
When Assistant Mu Feng saw the rose, he was no less shocked.
He froze on the spot, staring at it as though it were some kind of monster.
It wasn’t until Fu Sihuai called his name that he snapped back to reality.
“Huh? President Fu, what did you just say?”
“There’s no need to continue the technical partnership with the Bai family. After Phase One is completed, withdraw our personnel and have them find someone else.”
Mu Feng immediately returned to work mode and made a note.
The cooperation project had been something President Bai had begged for over a long period of time.
Phase One was about to end, and the Bai family had been desperately trying to negotiate for a second phase.
After giving his instructions, Fu Sihuai handed him the pink rose.
“Find a vase and put it on my desk.”
“Oh… okay.”
Holding the flower in his hands, Mu Feng felt like the world had suddenly become surreal.
His boss definitely wasn’t the type to buy flowers himself.
So…
Had someone given it to him?
Having worked beside Fu Sihuai for years, Mu Feng knew that ever since his divorce, there had never been another woman by his side.
For all these years, he had devoted himself to making money and raising the four children at home.
No.
Five children now.
Could it be…
Was he finally going to have a boss lady?
Thoughtfully stroking his chin, Mu Feng continued holding the rose.
Maybe he should find an excuse to visit his boss’s house?
Still…
This rose smelled incredible.
He lifted it to his nose and took a deep breath.
Then another.
And another.
Wonderful.
His boss’s flower smelled amazing.
Life was good.
Suddenly, a chilling sensation wrapped around him.
Mu Feng shuddered.
That feeling…
The boss!
Carefully turning around, he saw the handsome man standing expressionlessly outside the glass door.
He immediately trembled.
“B-Boss…”
Fu Sihuai’s dark eyes were cold.
“Bonus deduction.”
Mu Feng’s face instantly changed.
“No! Please!”
Not a trace of sympathy appeared on Fu Sihuai’s face.
Turning around, he left behind only two words.
“Meeting.”
At last, Mu Feng behaved himself.
Treating the rose like an ancestral treasure, he carefully placed it into the finest vase in the office.
After adjusting its position to perfection, he picked up the meeting documents and headed to the conference room.
A deduction was a deduction.
After all, his salary was the real source of income.
An hour later, Fu Sihuai returned from the meeting.
Pushing open the office door, he saw a man standing in front of his desk, holding up his phone and taking pictures of the rose.
As he entered, the folder in his hand landed on the desk with a soft click.
“Ahuai, where did you buy this rose? It smells incredible.”
The familiarity in his tone made it obvious that he and Fu Sihuai were old friends.
“When did you get here?”
Xiao Suo casually dropped into a nearby chair and sighed.
“I came to see how you’ve been doing since leaving the capital. Since you’ve got the mood to grow flowers now, I guess life’s treating you well?”
Then he changed the subject and looked curiously at the rose.
“Seriously, Ahuai, give me the address of this flower shop. I want to buy some for my eldest sister. If I can cheer her up, you’ll be the benefactor of our entire family.”
Fu Sihuai knew nothing about the flowers.
Aunt Liu had handled everything.
He took out his phone and called home.
After getting the flower shop’s address from Aunt Liu, Xiao Suo hurried away.
He left with his driver in a rush, afraid that if he arrived too late, the flowers would already be sold out.
However, before he even stepped inside the flower shop, Xiao Suo instinctively felt that something was wrong.
