Chapter 19
The manâs kiss was not gentleâit was wild, fierce.
Su Li didnât like this kind of kiss.
She pushed against Mo Xingyuanâs shoulders, resisting his roughness.
The more she pushed, the harder he kissed.
He grabbed her hands, lifting them above her head, preventing her from refusing.
âUhâŚâ
A gust of wind blew in through the open floor-to-ceiling windows, lifting the white sheer curtains in a wave. The wind pushed and tangled with the curtains, until they finally danced together.
Sunlight poured into the room, dyeing the white curtains with a layer of golden light, stunningly beautifulâŚ
Her dark, glossy hair spilled over the edge of the sofa, her clothes wrinkled, her eyes veiled with a misty haze. Her chest felt as though it contained an extra heart, beating hot and chaotic.
Su Li gasped. Her mouth carried the unfamiliar yet intimate scent, her body soft and weak.
The breath at the hollow of her neck was unbearably hot, as if it could burn her skin.
The manâs breathing was erratic, yet he restrained himself as much as he could.
Su Li thought they were going to continue like this, absurdly, without end.
She had underestimated the manâs patience and self-control.
She was shocked that, in this situation, he could stop.
And surprisedâhe actually lost control.
Su Li knew clearlyâhe had lost control.
A man suddenly acting so wildly toward a woman he didnât love must have been provoked. And that provocation likely came from another womanâthe one he loved.
Su Li remembered Lu Jing saying that the woman he cared about had gone abroad after he discovered his illness.
AbroadâŚ
Su Li suddenly realized: Could Mo Xingyuanâs trip abroad be because of that woman?
Otherwise, how could she explain his behavior today?
With that thought, Su Li quickly calmed down.
She didnât push him away, letting him lean against her.
His breath was by her ear, gradually slowing.
The two of them stayed like that, the curtains still fluttering, but the room had quieted.
After a long while, Mo Xingyuan finally stood.
The womanâs face was pale, but her lips were full and redâclearly his handiwork.
A flash of panic crossed his eyes. His Adamâs apple rolled as he wanted to say something but didnât know what.
Su Li sat up, tidied her hair, picked up the hair tie that had fallen on the sofa, quickly tied her hair back, adjusted her clothes, and lifted the corner of her lips. âYour kissing skills arenât very good. Plenty of room for improvement.â
Her joking words made Mo Xingyuanâs heart sink slightly.
âIâm going to take a shower.â
.
Mo Xingyuan stood outside on the balcony, smoking, his chest heavy with the memory of what he had just done.
He had lost control.
He grew increasingly restless, one cigarette after another.
His phone vibrated. He glanced at it, but didnât reply.
Hearing movement behind him, he turned.
Su Li had changed her clothes, towel-dried her hair, grabbed her laptop, and returned to her bedroom.
In truth, she didnât actually want what she had joked about with him.
Her fingers suddenly flinched at the heat. He looked down; the cigarette burned out.
Mo Xingyuan went back to the living room, grabbed his clothes, and left.
Hearing the door close, Su Li let out a long, relieved breath, and her stiff back slumped.
She collapsed onto the bed, pressing her lips together.
The touch of her lips wasnât entirely comfortableâslightly numb.
She ran her tongue lightly over her lips, thinking of Mo Xingyuanâs kiss. She pressed her lips together again, savoring it.
That woman who didnât want him⌠how could she bear to leave him?
If she had ended up staying with him, she couldnât even imagine how doting he would be toward her.
Su Li realized: Mo Xingyuan would undoubtedly pamper the one he truly loved.
