Chapter 05
Mo Xingyuan walked into the bathroom, clearly not planning to pay any attention to Su Li.
In the quiet room, Su Li touched her throatâat that moment, she really thought he was going to strangle her.
Even without him saying anything, she would naturally stay far away from him.
Sliding a little into the shadows beside her, she couldnât help but think that her dream of becoming a wealthy woman was clearly not going to work out.
Mo Xingyuan came out of the bathroom and glanced toward the doorâshe wasnât in her previous spot.
Thinking she had left, he took a few steps forward, only to see her hiding in the shadows.
Su Li was sitting on the floor, texting Lu Jing.
Lu Jing knew she was sharing a room with Mo Xingyuan tonight and couldnât help but worry about her situation.
Su Li snapped a photo of herself on the floor and sent it to Lu Jing.
âDonât worry. Iâm even more determined to reach his heart.â
After sending it, she heard a faint movement.
She looked up. Mo Xingyuan was in a gray pajama set, the collar open, his exposed neck pale enough to make any woman envious, the prominent throat curving sensually.
His hair was slightly damp, and the lazy tilt of his head was reminiscent of a noble Maine Coon catâhandsome and alluring.
His features were truly perfectâflawlessly so.
Having a man like this as a husband was a gain just by looking at him.
âYou should get some rest early,â Su Li said politely, thinking about his poor health.
Mo Xingyuan strode straight to the bed, not even glancing at her, lifted the blanket, got under it, and turned off the lights.
Su Li: ââŚâŚâ
In the huge bedroom, Su Li felt like a stray cat who had wandered into someone elseâs homeâunwelcome, she could only hide in the dark corner, trying to minimize her presence.
Suddenly, she lost the desire to share this with Lu Jing.
From Mo Xingyuanâs perspective, there was nothing wrong with his actions.
If the roles were reversed, she probably would have called the police.
Leaning against the wall, she realized the room had heating and wasnât cold.
She put down her phone, staying in this unfamiliar place, sharing a room with a man who was her husband but essentially a strangerâit felt very strange.
Thinking back on the past few days, it all seemed like a dreamâwanting to laugh but with a bitter edge.
Su Li sighed softly and closed her eyes.
A saying came to mind: The path you choose, you must walk it even on your knees.
.
Su Li was awakened by the cold.
She woke up without the man having pulled her onto the bed or covering her with a blanketânone of those warm things were there.
The man was completely ruthless.
Mo Xingyuan had already washed up and gotten dressed, standing not far away. âThere are clothes in the bathroom. Clean yourself up properlyâdonât give people the impression that I bullied you.â
Su Li rubbed her nose and couldnât help sneezing.
Would he even care what others thought?
She steadied herself against the wall and stood up. Her legs were numb from sitting so long, her waist sore, and her neck stiff.
Mo Xingyuan watched coldly as she struggled into the bathroom. A rare, strange emotion stirred in him.
He probably hadnât expected her to really sit on the floor all night.
She married him yet kept her distanceâshe was clever.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
Glancing at the incoming call, he looked toward the bathroom.
He swiped to answer.
âMo Xingyuan, I fell.â
On the other end, Su Liâs voice was choked with tears.
Mo Xingyuan furrowed his brows. Just when he thought she was being sensible, she went and caused trouble.
âThen get up.â
Su Liâs eyes filled with tears from the pain, and hearing such cold words, the tears spilled instantly.
If she could have gotten up, would she even have called him?
