Chapter – 99
Sweet as Honey (1st Update)
Lu Li curled his lips into a smile and unexpectedly tickled her.
“Are you going to tell me or not? Are you going to tell me or not?”
“Lu Li! Don’t do that!”
Mu Wanwan hated being tickled. Her body bent, and she laughed so hard that tears formed at the corners of her eyes.
Her delicate face turned slightly red. Lu Li’s gaze suddenly deepened, and he slowly lowered his head toward her.
Mu Wanwan looked up. In the depth of her eyes, she saw his deep black pupils. They were so close that she could even hear his heartbeat clearly.
The fire flickered, and a soft warmth filled the air.
The atmosphere suddenly became subtle, almost electric.
“Lu Li…” she whispered softly.
Lu Li made a low “hm” sound and his gaze rested on her rosy lips.
Thunder rumbled outside.
Meanwhile, Fu Dong spoke seriously.
“Then I’ll go too. The night has cleared, and the rescue team has set out. We should hear news soon. Let’s wait a little longer.”
“No. You and An Yao should stay here.” Fu Dong directly rejected her request, expressionless.
“There’s no room for negotiation on this matter.”
Since Lu Ziqing had been scolded by Fu Dong yesterday, she dared not throw a tantrum again. At this critical moment, finding her brother was the most important thing.
Fu Dong and Huo Zheng exchanged a glance and nodded in agreement.
The firewood on the ground emitted thin wisps of smoke. The flames had already gone out.
The three of them moved out immediately with the rescue team.
Huo Zheng approached, his face serious.
“Lu Li’s phone still can’t be reached.”
The thunder roared again, and Mu Wanwan was momentarily distracted.
“Cousin, where are you going?”
At the doorway, Lu Ziqing and An Yao happened to see them. Looking at Fu Dong and the others dressed like the rescue team, Lu Ziqing asked.
“We are going with the rescue team into the mountains to look for Lu Li and the others.”
Fu Dong rolled up his sleeves as he spoke.
“All night has passed already, and there’s still no news?”
Qiao Le asked as soon as Fu Dong stepped inside.
The rain drizzled lightly, and the sky was misty.
Suddenly, Qiao Le’s lips parted slightly, her eyes showing a trace of surprise.
They hadn’t found Lu Li or Mu Wanwan, so Qiao Le and her group didn’t return to the resort. They had spent the night in a temple, making do.
Not controlling her volume, Lu Ziqing heard clearly what she said. Seeing Fu Dong’s icy expression in the corner of her eyes, she had to suppress her inner discontent.
“I understand,” she said awkwardly.
Looking into his deep, endless black eyes, she smiled, reaching up to wrap her arms around his neck.
This rainy night had been thrilling, yet sweet as honey.
“Early in the morning, stirring up trouble again.”
Qiao Le slung her backpack over her shoulder, ignored Lu Ziqing, and walked outside.
“This won’t do. Last night’s storm was so heavy; they might have encountered danger. Maybe we should go look too,” Qiao Le suggested to Huo Zheng.
On the surface, Lu Ziqing did not show it, but secretly she made a note in her heart to make Qiao Le pay later for this.
Lu Li’s entire aura shifted. His arm around her waist tightened slightly.
A beam of light shone into the cave, scattering tiny specks across the walls.
Mu Wanwan slowly opened her eyes, still sleepy, recalling fragments of last night’s memories.
“Awake?”
A magnetic voice sounded above her.
Mu Wanwan suddenly lifted her head—and bumped it on his jaw. Pain made her grit her teeth.
