Chapter – 92
Finally Found
“Mu Wanwan!”
His hysterical shout pierced through the violent wind and rain and shot straight into the sky.
“Boom—”
A flash of silver lightning lit up the dark sky. Thunder roared inside the clouds, deep and frightening.
In the dark green forest, a slender figure staggered and slipped, falling onto the uneven muddy ground.
Mu Wanwan supported herself with her hands and struggled to stand up. Her delicate face looked slightly pale, and her bloodless lips made her appear even more fragile.
She raised her hand and wiped the rain from her face. Her clear eyes scanned the surroundings.
Suddenly, her gaze stopped on a tree not far away.
A black coat was hanging on the branches. The faint silver on the cuff was almost impossible to notice if one did not look carefully.
A flash of joy appeared in Mu Wanwan’s eyes.
She had just taken a step when a sharp pain came from her ankle. She frowned slightly, but endured the pain and hurried over.
The rain poured down harder.
Mu Wanwan hugged the coat tightly in her arms and closed her eyes. The pain she expected did not come. Instead, a strong arm wrapped firmly around her waist.
She raised her head and forced back the tears. In front of him, she shook the coat slightly and then unzipped the pocket.
Halfway through climbing earlier, the piercing pain in her ankle had become stronger and stronger. She had gasped in pain.
Now, a furious voice scolded her harshly.
“Mu Wanwan, who gave you the courage to run here? Do you know how dangerous this place is? If something happened to you, what would I do?”
Mu Wanwan’s nose felt sour. Her pale face pressed tightly against the man’s strong chest. The familiar sense of safety surrounded her completely.
Lu Li helped her sit up. When he saw the coat she was holding tightly in her hands, a trace of anger appeared in his dark eyes.
She blinked, and tears unwillingly fell from her eyes.
“Hiss—”
“It hurts…”
“Is this coat really that important?”
Lu Li lowered his head and looked at the small brocade pouch in his hand. A trace of confusion flashed through his eyes.
Just before she could feel happy, almost at the same moment, her foot slipped and she fell from the tree.
“Ah!”
Lu Li did not understand her actions at first, but the next second, a dark green brocade pouch came into his sight.
Fortunately… fortunately she was fine.
“Mu Wanwan, you idiot!”
Not daring to rest too long earlier, Mu Wanwan had looked up at where the coat was hanging. Gathering her strength, she climbed up the tree and stretched out her arm toward it.
Lu Li lowered his eyes and looked at the girl in his arms. A trace of lingering fear flashed across his face.
Her bright eyes suddenly opened. The man’s low and hoarse voice carried anger, but it was the voice she was most familiar with.
Just a little more…
The rain grew even wilder. Her clothes were completely soaked. Mu Wanwan shivered from the cold.
Looking up at the coat hanging on the tree, she took a deep breath. With a strong push, her pale hand grabbed the rough branch, and she used the strength to climb up.
Finally, her fingertips caught the sleeve, and she pulled it down.
His scolding tone was filled with worry and fear.
Lu Li was about to open the pouch, but Mu Wanwan suddenly turned and walked away angrily.
Mu Wanwan threw the coat aside and stuffed the small brocade pouch into his hand.
“Return it to you.”
Lu Li grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
She turned her head away, her red lips tightly pressed together.
“I don’t need you to worry about me.”
If Lu Ziqing hadn’t caused this trouble, she would never have ended up here.
Lu Li leaned slightly closer, pressing his forehead against hers.
“If I didn’t care about you, and you got hurt again, who would give me another Mu Wanwan, hmm?”
