Chapter 15
Prince Jun Fell in Love With Me at First Sight
“Miss, everything is here!”
Zhong Bo quickly brought the items over.
Fu Zhao Ning took the yellow wine and soaked the silver needles in it first. Then she heated the needles briefly over the candle flame and asked Zhong Bo to help remove Old Master Fu’s clothes.
She also took a slice of ginseng and placed it beneath Old Master Fu’s tongue.
“Xiao Tao, take a few more slices and boil ginseng soup.”
“Yes.”
Xiao Tao hurried away.
All of them felt that Fu Zhao Ning seemed very different now, but nobody had time to think deeply about it. Besides, whenever Fu Zhao Ning spoke, they unconsciously obeyed first.
Holding the silver needles, Fu Zhao Ning focused completely as she inserted the first needle into Old Master Fu’s acupuncture point.
“Ah—!”
Seeing her actions, Zhong Bo nearly cried out in shock, but he immediately shut his mouth tightly.
Miss had never studied medicine before!
How could she dare perform acupuncture on Old Master Fu?
Yet Fu Zhao Ning’s serious and concentrated expression made him instinctively afraid to disturb her.
Her movements were extremely fast.
After inserting one needle, her hand never paused before immediately placing the next.
Her speed was astonishingly quick. She never hesitated or stopped to search for the acupuncture points first. The moment she picked up a needle, she inserted it directly.
Old Master Fu had already fallen unconscious again.
During the entire acupuncture process, he never woke up nor reacted at all.
Zhong Bo’s heart rose into his throat.
Meanwhile outside, Qing Yi was beside the carriage explaining the situation to Prince Jun.
As he listened, Prince Jun suddenly interrupted him.
“You said Fu Zhao Ning told Old Master Fu that she married this Prince, and she also told some lies to comfort him. What lies exactly?”
Qing Yi’s face stiffened.
Originally, he had planned to gloss over that part vaguely.
Who knew Wangye would immediately focus on that detail?
Now should he say it or not?
Prince Jun originally had not thought much about it and had only asked out of curiosity.
But seeing Qing Yi’s reaction immediately made him suspicious.
“Speak. Repeat every word Fu Zhao Ning said exactly as she said it.”
He wanted to hear exactly how Fu Zhao Ning explained this situation.
Qing Yi had no choice but to harden his scalp and repeat Fu Zhao Ning’s words word-for-word.
After listening, silence filled the carriage for a long time.
“Heh.”
After quite a while, Prince Jun’s cold voice finally sounded.
“This Prince greatly admired her? Fell in love with her at first sight? Even thoughtfully wanted to accompany her back home?”
“Master, Miss Fu was probably only anxious to reassure Old Master Fu…”
“You said she even called me ‘husband’?”
“Uh… yes.”
“Heh heh. That woman’s skin truly is thick enough.”
Some movement sounded from not far away, and Prince Jun’s eyes shifted slightly.
“It seems someone has been watching the Fu family.”
Originally, he had wanted to go inside and see what other tricks Fu Zhao Ning might come up with.
Otherwise, he might as well just leave her at the Fu family residence.
After all, she insisted on returning herself. As long as he technically had a Princess Consort, that was enough. If this Princess Consort did not stay in Prince Jun’s residence, he would actually enjoy the peace and quiet.
But now that unknown people were secretly watching the Fu family, he could no longer leave Fu Zhao Ning here.
“Go tell Fu Zhao Ning that the carriage will wait here. Once she finishes, she must return to Prince Jun’s residence.”
As Prince Jun spoke, he leaned back against the soft cushions and rubbed his forehead.
Today he had already traveled the entire day rushing back to the capital.
Then, for some inexplicable reason, he suddenly impulsively got married.
He had not rested properly at all.
“Does Master want to return first?” Qing Yi asked.
“This Prince will wait here.”
Prince Jun closed his eyes lightly.
“If we’re acting, we should act thoroughly. Fu Zhao Ning worried about her grandfather and rushed back to the Fu family on her wedding night, while this Prince thoughtfully waits to accompany her back afterward. Only then does the act look convincing, correct?”
Qing Yi dared not answer.
He jumped down from the carriage and entered the Fu residence again.
“Master, the golden buyao has already been redeemed. The Fu family servant pawned it at a nearby medical clinic in exchange for a set of silver needles, one bottle of yellow wine, and a thirty-year-old ginseng root.”
“How much silver did it cost to redeem?”
Prince Jun accepted the golden buyao from the guard.
Inside the carriage, candlelight reflected off the hairpin, causing golden light to flicker beautifully.
At the center of the flower design were top-quality pearls and gemstones.
Prince Jun felt certain Fu Zhao Ning had not examined it carefully.
Otherwise, how could such a valuable hairpin be exchanged for only those few things?
This was an item from Prince Jun’s residence, one of a kind.
Yet she actually dared to pawn it so casually.
“Replying to Master, it cost one thousand taels.”
“Heh. You may leave.”
Very good.
On her wedding night alone, Fu Zhao Ning already owed him one thousand taels.
The people at the medical clinic had probably recognized his guards’ unusual uniforms and did not dare demand an outrageous price. They only asked for slightly more than the value of those items.
Otherwise, judging from the value of this buyao alone, without three to five thousand taels, they likely would never have returned it.
Prince Jun closed his eyes and finally could no longer suppress his coughing.
At that moment, Qing Yi returned inside just in time to see Fu Zhao Ning finish placing the final needle.
Old Master Fu’s body was now covered with needles, making the scene appear somewhat frightening.
He was terribly thin, practically skin and bones.
The cold needles inserted into such a ruined body made him look even more pitiful.
Fu Zhao Ning’s eyes were red.
She heard Qing Yi’s footsteps but did not look up. Instead, she gently pinched one needle between her fingers and slowly twisted it.
Her acupuncture technique was not as simple as merely inserting the needles.
She also twisted and flicked them, stimulating the acupuncture points more intensely so the blood and qi could circulate through the body as quickly as possible and restore vitality.
This set of acupuncture techniques, the Returning Heaven Needles, consumed enormous mental energy.
So Fu Zhao Ning truly had no spare attention for anything else now.
Seeing her so fully concentrated, Qing Yi did not dare speak either.
This calm and focused Fu Zhao Ning somehow inspired awe in others.
So he simply stood quietly at the side guarding the room.
Fu Zhao Ning’s hands were incredibly steady.
Every twist and flick of each needle carried almost identical speed, strength, and precision.
Qing Yi even realized—
Each needle trembled the exact same number of times.
Shock filled his heart.
The more he watched, the more incredible Fu Zhao Ning seemed.
If Old Master Fu truly improved—
then their Wangye could also be saved!
Fu Zhao Ning might really be capable of curing Wangye.
Thinking of this, Qing Yi became excited.
Now he too held his breath while waiting for Fu Zhao Ning to finish.
Fine beads of sweat appeared across Fu Zhao Ning’s forehead. It was obvious this process exhausted her greatly.
Zhong Bo and Xiao Tao also stood nearby silently, not daring to make any noise.
After about half an hour, Fu Zhao Ning finally removed all the needles.
She helped Old Master Fu lean sideways toward the edge of the bed, then pressed firmly against his back.
“Wah—!”
Old Master Fu suddenly spat out a large mouthful of blood.
“Old Master!”
“Miss, this…!”
Zhong Bo and Xiao Tao’s expressions changed drastically in horror. They nearly jumped up.
Even Qing Yi’s heart shot into his throat.
What was happening?
Fu Zhao Ning carefully helped Old Master Fu lie back down and finally released a long breath.
“It’s alright. That was poisoned blood built up inside his body. Spitting it out will make Grandfather feel much better.”
Thankfully, she had eaten her fill earlier at Prince Jun’s residence.
Only because of that did she still have enough strength now.
If she had rushed back hungry, she truly would not have been able to endure all this.
“Poisoned blood?” Qing Yi immediately caught the important point.
