Chapter 47
I’ll probably be attending a lot more formal parties and public events from now on.
Come to think of it, the Duke did say he’d hire private tutors for me if I wanted to study.
Since I got accepted into a prestigious university in my previous life, I should be able to handle things like math and chemistry here too.
The real problem is social etiquette. In my past life, all I ever learned were basic table manners and polite speech.
Can I really master everything in just one month?
“From today onward, I’ll be in charge of teaching you etiquette, my lady.
My name is Viscountess Refia Iris — please feel free to call me Lady Refia.”
A woman with a viscount title? That’s impressive.
“Pleased to make your acquaintance, Lady Refia. I am Tiana Astaire.”
I’ve only ever read romantic fantasy novels, so my noble greeting might not be perfect — but at least I think it looks right.
“Your basic movements are adequate, but you still have much to learn. Let’s start from the beginning — your posture and the way you walk.”
So I’m still not good enough, huh.
I thought I was doing okay, but I guess not.
She talks kind of sternly too. She reminds me of my old high school discipline teacher. I guess people like that exist in every era.
“First, I’ll demonstrate for you. Please watch carefully and then try to imitate it.”
“Yes.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You learn quite quickly, my lady.”
“Thank you.”
She’s a bit strict, but she’s actually a good teacher.
She even praises me when I do well.
“Now, let’s work on refining your walk. This might be a bit heavy, but please try walking with this book balanced on your head.”
“Yes.”
Whoa— it’s heavier than I thought.
Balancing this on my head while walking is harder than it looks.
“Keep your back straight and your gaze forward. Take smaller steps as you move.”
“That will be all for today’s lesson.
Next time, we’ll continue from where we left off, so please review what we covered.”
“Thank you very much for today.”
That’s the end of etiquette class for now. Next comes the academic lessons.
I’m exhausted.
But I think I’m getting to the point where I could stand in front of others without embarrassing myself.
My sister and brothers all went through this too, didn’t they? Amazing.
“My lady, shall we have lunch now?”
Mariana brought in the meal.
“Thank you. Wow, etiquette lessons are more tiring than I expected… but kind of fun, actually.”
“I’m glad to hear that. I met with Lady Refia just now — she said you’re a quick learner and spoke very highly of you.”
“Really!? Yay!”
“After lunch, another tutor will come to teach your academic subjects.”
“Did you hear what kind of person they are?”
“I don’t know the details, but they’re apparently quite famous in the Imperial Capital.”
“I see…”
I wonder what kind of teacher is going to show up next.
