Chapter 5
Second Young Master Xie, You’re Scaring Her (2/2)
â…â
Xie Jingchuanâs expression changed instantly.
âYou want the research institute?â
Tan Shen couldn’t help but curl his lips slightly.
A little fox who never let a grudge go.
Though she looked soft and delicate all over, her temper was surprisingly fierce.
A clear trace of anger appeared beneath Xie Jingchuanâs silver hair as he narrowed his eyes dangerously.
He stared gloomily at Xie Yurao.
âDo you know anything about medical research? How dare you ask for a research institute?â
Every profession has its specialty. Greedily grabbing things outside your fieldâarenât you afraid you’ll choke on them?
âNope.â
Xie Yurao answered without hesitation.
Blinking, she smiled lazily.
âBut I can hire people from medical schools to do the research for me.â
â…â
Really, why did you have to provoke her?
Xie Jingchuan was usually calm and strategic, someone who rarely showed emotion, but now she had irritated him so much he wanted to swear.
âXie! Yu! Rao!â
âSecond Young Master Xie.â
Tan Shen interrupted him.
His long eyes landed on Xie Jingchuan, cold and indifferent.
Even as a lowly bodyguard facing one of heavenâs favored sons, he showed not the slightest timidity.
âPlease control your volume.â
The man remained expressionless, his voice cool.
âYouâre scaring her.â
â…â
Xie Jingchuan: â?â
Scaring who?
Do you hear yourself right now?
Yet Tan Shenâs face was completely serious, as if his young mistress were truly some delicate, precious little princess.
His icy gaze seemed to ask:
Is there a problem?
Xie Yurao also thought there wasn’t any problem.
Her pale fingers grabbed the front of Tan Shenâs impeccably tailored suit, slowly wrinkling the fabric.
Mumbling, she agreed,
âExactly. Heâs so fierce…â
â…â
Xie Jingchuan finally couldn’t hold it in any longer and let out an angry laugh.
She was really good at acting.
This certainly wasn’t the same girl who had kicked him with a ponyâs leg.
Back when he had first arrived at the Xie family, he was only twelve years old, thin and pitiful.
The first thing that happened was that a pampered young girl returned from horseback riding.
Mounted on a little pony, she kicked him straight to the ground.
The servants all watched the spectacle.
Not a single one came to help him up.
âSo you’re the reason my mommy is unhappy?â
Sitting atop a chestnut pony, she dangled her fair little legs.
Her immature fox-like eyes tilted upward as she looked down at him coldly.
âYouâd better get out of my house on your own.â
âOtherwise…â
âIâll play with you until you’re ruined.â
Arrogant.
Mean.
Beautiful.
And bad.
That was Xie Jingchuanâs first impression of her.
Clutching the dirt on the ground, he felt humiliated and dug his nails deeply into his palm.
âReally? Then letâs see.â
His mother was gravely ill and needed the Xie family to pay the enormous medical expenses.
The price was sending him back to the Xie family.
So no matter what, he had to survive there.
Living under someone elseâs roof while Xie Yurao was treated like the center of the universe, he was often bullied by her.
Even the servants followed her lead, feeding him leftovers.
Of course, Xie Jingchuan wasn’t easy to deal with either.
Knowing that Xie Yurao was allergic to oranges, he squeezed orange juice into her drink.
That very nightâ
The pampered young miss broke out in red spots all over her arms.
They were itchy and painful, and she cried pitifully, tears streaming down her face.
The entire Xie household revolved around their precious darling.
Meanwhile, he leaned against the side, watching the farce with amusement.
â
Looking at the glamorous young woman hiding behind Tan Shen, Xie Jingchuan realized that although she had grown up, she was still exactly the same as before.
The manâs devilishly handsome face carried a hint of lazy danger beneath its smile.
âThen your second brother wishes you in advance, little sister Rao Rao…â
âA successful performance.â
