Chapter 1
Tan Shen, Hug
In the affluent district of Kyoto, the Xie family villa.
Jiang Mingci got out of the taxi. Wearing a simple white shirt and black pants, the young man looked bright and youthful under the sunlight, standing somewhat nervously as he gazed at the luxurious villa that resembled a palace.
âHello, are you Student Jiang?â the maid opened the door.
âYes.â
âPlease follow me. Miss has already been waiting for you in the dance studio.â
Jiang Mingci nodded and followed behind her.
He was a student majoring in ballroom dance at Kyoto Sports University, ranked second in professional ability, and had been hired for an exorbitant fee to practice dancing with the Xie familyâs young lady.
The Xie family was a famous financial conglomerate in Kyoto, one of the worldâs top three pharmaceutical companies, with businesses all over the globe â undeniably the richest family in Kyoto.
He casually imagined what the Xie familyâs young lady might be like.
The daughter of a pharmaceutical empire⌠surely she was the type of angel in white.
Gentle, pure, noble, elegant.
Jiang Mingci had always admired girls of that fairy-like type and couldnât help his ears turning slightly red.
The maid leading the way suddenly paused and respectfully bowed.
âMr. Tan.â
âMm.â
A cool, indifferent voice sounded from above, deep and magnetic.
Jiang Mingci raised his head to look at the newcomer.
The man was handsome and cold-featured. His suit outlined his tall, slender figure; his sharp features and icy eyes carried the overwhelming aura of someone accustomed to power.
His cold gaze swept casually over Jiang Mingciâ
Jiang Mingci almost started planning where heâd be buried.
The maid introduced him:
âThis is the new dance partner hired for Miss.â
Tan Shen responded emotionlessly, seeming uninterested.
In a cold voice he said, âShe wants lychees.â
âLychees? There are some in the kitchen at the front hall. Iâll go get them right awayâŚâ
Tan Shen interrupted her.
âNo need. Iâll go.â
The maid looked at him in surprise. âYouâŚâ
Tan Shen had already stepped away with his long legs, leaving quickly.
Jiang Mingci watched his back. Even though heâd seen plenty of exceptionally well-built boys at sports universityâincluding himselfânone had an aura comparable to this manâs.
He couldnât help asking, âWho is thisâŚ?â
âMissâs personal bodyguard.â
âBodyguard?â
Jiang Mingci didnât quite understand. If he was only a bodyguard, why did everyone treat him so respectfully?
The maid seemed to understand his confusion and only smiled as she said:
âMiss likes him.â
Jiang Mingci nodded, not taking the word likes too seriously.
Its meaning was probably similar to liking a beautiful piece of jewelry or a pretty dress.
Xie Yuraoâs dance studio was on the second floor of the villa.
Huge windows filled the room with bright sunlight. She sat on the window ledge, lazily swinging her legs.
Hearing the door open, Xie Yurao yawned lazily.
âYouâre here?â
Jiang Mingci froze for a moment.
Looking at the appearance of the Xie familyâs young ladyâ
Compared to the gentle, elegant angel in white heâd imaginedâ
They were simplyâŚ
Nothing alike.
The beauty wore a red dress and lounged against the window. Her fair, soft legs swayed lightly. Her fox-like eyes were misty with sleepiness, slightly raised, carrying a teasing hook.
Not an angel.
A seductress.
âHello, Iâm from Kyoto Sports Universityâs ballroom dance departmentââ
âThe campus heartthrob.â Xie Yurao jumped down from the windowsill. âI know.â
Jiang Mingci: â??â
He suddenly had a vague idea why, despite being ranked second in his major, he had been chosen.
Xie Yurao walked toward him in high heels, expression lifted slightly as she muttered thoughtfully:
âYou look kind of⌠soft and innocent.â
ââŚ?â
